Emily's POV

I stared out the window, the ride up the driveway was already taking forever. I mean I've listened to 7 of my Evanescence songs since we pulled into the driveway, and we are still going.

I sighed and my mother looked at me in the rear view. I turned so I was facing the window, as she started to talk. She got the message and stopped. I pulled out my phone and texted my friends, along with Auntie Diane and Uncle Gary.

"Kill. Me. Now," my message said.

"What's up?" Gary had texted back

"I'm going to meet my new fiancé..." I responded.

"That's great. Diane wants to know why you haven't brought him to bells? And who is the lucky guy?" He replied.

"Um, I don't know who he is. I found out this morning..." Was my reply.

"WHAT?!" I received.

"Yeps." I looked up to see a house, "gtg. Bye."

I looked back at the house. It was pretty big. Two stories, big yard. It didn't seem horrible, but I'd rather be somewhere, scratch that, anywhere else. The car pulled into a loop in front of the house. In the center of the loop there is a circle of grass with a large fountain in the middle of it. The house was huge though. I was getting more and more nervous as the time approached for us to go in.

Stepping out of the car, I finally realized that I'm not ready for anything even remotely like this. What would he be like? How old is he? What if my parents are forcing me into an arranged marriage with some guy and he's some fifty year old weirdo? As my thoughts continued I felt myself nearing a possible panic attack. Taking deep breaths, I tried to focus on something else. Anything else.

Walking up the steps onto the porch my mother started to lecture me on making sure that I use my manners and basically not to screw this up for them.

The door opened up and I saw a man dressed in a tuxedo. He bowed and motioned for us to come in.

"Well that was weird," I thought to myself as we followed him down the hall. He finally stopped in a room I would describe as huge but I'm sure that describes this whole house. In the room there was a man standing with his back to us and a young man who seemed to be a year older than me standing near him. They appeared to be arguing. The man that brought us in cleared his throat, causing them to both turn around. The younger one was definitely around my age and the other man was obviously his father.

"Hello, you must be Emily," the older man said, "I'm Simon and this is my son, Damien." Simon gestured to Damien, who stepped forward and put his hand out. Thinking it was for a handshake, I outstretched my hand. To my surprise he took my hand and gently kissed the back of my hand before standing back up.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Emily," Damien commented.

"Why don't we leave you two to get to know each other better?" Simon asked my parents who, of course, agreed just before all the adults left the room.

~~Mark's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I dialed in her number and listened to the rings. One... Two... After about the third ring my nerves kicked up.

'I wonder what this call is going to be about?' I thought to myself.

'I hope it isn't about the you-know-what situation,' my wolf responded.

'The mate situation?' I asked, just to be sure.

'Yes, she's been on our case for at least a month now. I don't want a female if I can't have my mate!' my wolf growled out.

"Hello, my dear son. I'm glad you called," my mother answered her phone with a sickeningly sweet voice before I could respond to my wolf, who we call the Big Bad Wolf.

"Hi mom," I answered as the knot in my stomach got tighter, making me feel sick, "I heard that you needed me to call you ASAP and wanted to make sure everything is ok?" I tried to make it a statement, but it came out a question.

"Oh, so you don't just call me to say hi or just to check on me," she started with the guilt trip, "but I have to tell someone to have you call me?"

"I'm really sorry, mom, I've just been really busy lately," I told her truthfully.

"So busy you don't have time to call me or come visit me?" She questioned me, causing my wolf to growl.

"Mom, I have been so busy that for at least the past month, I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep, and that's usually between 12 and 4," I explained to her, hoping that she'd understand.

"Well that's not doing you any good. How can the pack stay on top if their Alpha is running himself into the ground?" She started.

'Uh oh, where is she going with this?'my wolf and I asked each other.

"Which is why I think you should have a mate by your side to help lead the pack. Plus she'd help reduce some of the stress you feel," she continued, "plus there are many unmated females in the pack, some of whom would make great Luna's, like Brittany," here I cringed, "why don't you make Brittany your mate?"

"Mom, I want my mate. Not some slut who is power hungry," I explained to her, hoping that she understands and my wolf doesn't surface.

"Brittany is a great girl!" Mom exclaimed, obviously upset at my term for the girl.

"No, mom. And that's my final answer," my wolf and I growled at her before hanging up and then completely trashing my office again.
