That night, right before the dance, Lily sat in her car, checking her makeup. She didn't want to go into the dance looking like a mess. "Okay, just breathe, Lily, breathe."
Her thoughts were interrupted by the door opening. She turned her head to see Reggie. "Hey Lily." Lily smiled. "Reggie." She stepped out of the car, and took Reggie's hand as they walked into the building.
Once they got inside, Lily's eyes went wide. "Wow" The entire gym had been decorated. Everyone was standing near the stage where Cheryl was prepared to give her speech. "Good evening, friends. Are you all having a good time?" Everyone started cheering. Cheryl smiled.
"As honorary chairperson and de facto queen of tonight's semiformal, it is my great pleasure to introduce this evening's main entertainment. To know them is to be obsessed with them. Though they usually perform their own material, tonight, they're making an exception and debuting a cover of the song my parents claim they were listening to the night Jason and I were conceived. This one's for you, JJ." Lily winced. Cheryl, tmi, she thought to herself.
"I give you Josie and the Pussycats." Josie and her two bandmates stepped onto the stage and started to play some music. Reggie held out his hand. "Lily, will you dance with me?" Lily chuckled, and Reggie smiled. Lily took his hand. "I would." She put her hands on his shoulders. They started to dance.
"So, I was wondering, if after the dance, you would like to go out sometime." Lily looked up at Reggie. "Isn't this already going out?" Reggie chuckled. "I mean, a date outside of this." Lily tilted her head. "Alright, I'll go out with you." Reggie smiled.
Meanwhile, Cheryl and Moose were talking. "Make sure those two groups of lovebirds come to my after party. Veronica too. I'm in the mood for some chaos."
