Standing Up to the Boogieman

Standing in front of me was a man who I wasn't sure that I knew who he was. I'd read his name over and over again as I read article after article. This name was Office Jake Dole, well I guess he wasn't much of a police officer anymore. He was standing before me, wearing faded jeans and a black shirt. I had imagined him looking more terrifying in person, yet he looked like a normal citizen. The pictures from the media were of him in his police uniform with a unemotional expression on his face but now he had a large smile on his face. How could someone be so happy being on the run? What I was confused about was why he was here and how did he know me? Maybe it was a coincidence and he was lost and had stumbled upon my house.

"Hello?" I asked, since he wasn't going to say anything first.

"Hello Amanda, how are you today?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Not to be blunt but who are you and why are you here?" I asked, not wanting him to know that I knew who he was.

He smiled before speaking, "I think you know who I am. Kayden sent me to check on you. Let's just say I've been working closely with him and he wants to make sure that you're following the rules and such." He said, taking a step into the house, knowing I wouldn't stop him.

"I'm not sure who you are. I don't know why you would think I knew who you were. And as for Kayden, you can tell him I can doing perfectly fine no thanks to him." I replied, shutting the front door behind me.

Dole started to walk around my house, looking through things. I didn't have many personal items but his invading of privacy was making me uneasy. He walked over to my desk and opened the drawers as if he was searching for something. He pulled out a piece of paper and my eyes widened. I had hidden my letter that I wrote a few weeks ago venting about everyone in my life that screwed me over. I never thought someone would search my desk or I would have burned the letter. I never intended on someone reading it.

"I know for a fact you know who I am and what I have done so let's stop playing dumb." He said and then remained silent as he started to read my deepest feelings.

"Dole stop, don't read that." I shouted, running over and tried to snatch the paper from him but he was too quick and pulled the letter away.

"Why don't you want me to read it?" He asked, pulling his eyes away from the paper to look at me.

"Because it's personal, I didn't think someone would come and look through everything." I frowned.

"I'm pretty sure Kayden told me that nothing is truly yours and that he owned everything of yours." He said, still holding the letter away from me.

"Screw him, he didn't write that so therefore it isn't his." I said, trying to figure out how to get the letter back from him.

"Well, reading what you wrote about him, I'm sure he wouldn't want to read it." He replied as he finished reading the letter, ignoring my protests.

He didn't say anything after he finished reading it and I was surprised when he grabbed a pen and started to write something on the back of my letter. I stared, wondering what he could possibly be writing. I was about to speak when he handed me the letter with his hand writing on the side facing up. His hand writing was super neat and clear to read, it didn't look like a man's hand writing at all. My eyes scanned over the words that he wrote.
