Xander;
The next couple of weeks were hard to focus on. How can I focus on school, friends, and parties if my life has gone crazy? Leam has become paranoid and completely untouched with reality. He is scared of something that he won't tell me about, but I know that it has to be about Saraphina and what she said. "He will find out one way or another. Don't let it be the way that kills you and him." What was that about?

"Dude, are you okay?" my best friend, Derrick asked me. "Huh? Oh umm, yeah. I'm fine," I said. "You sure? You've been acting strange. Like you haven't said one word about how much you hate Mr. Kibbens," he said. I wasn't paying attention. I looked blankly at my desk, wondering if Leam was okay sitting at home.

"See? All you've been doing lately is stare off into space! What is wrong with you?" "I don't know, man. Shit's been real lately," I said with a sigh. I looked at my wrist. Saraphina was spelt beautifully in graceful silver.

"Who's Sara-pa-heen-a?" Derrick asked. "It's pronounced, Sera-feen-a, and she is the girl who's life Leam and I saved." I guess he asked me about it, but I was lost in thought. Who are you? Where are you from? Why were you in such a hurry to run off into a storm? Who hurt you and why? Questions like those filled my head until I could think of nothing of the girl and the bone chilling thing she said to Leam.

"He will find out one way or another. Don't let it be the way that kills you and him killed." Her words bounced around in my head like like echoes in a cave.

"Dude! We're you listening to a damn thing I just said?" Derrick asked. "To be honest? No, I wasn't. What were you saying?" I asked, but as I did so, Mr. Barley cut our conversation short.

"If you boys are done, then I can begin to partner you up for your marine life project." He started pairing up the dumb kids with the smart ones. Then he paired the favorites with the favorites, finally, he pairs the rest of us at random.

I didn't pay attention to him. I didn't really care. I had too much to think about. The last of my concerns are school and this stupid project.

My priorities are in finding out who that girl was and keeping Leam as sane as possible. She had unnerved him somehow. Something she said scared him. Enough to the point that he wasn't himself. Just a scared shell of what he used to be. Just like Dad before he died.

I was told he died of a heart attack. He was too young to die of a heart attack. He was fit and healthy. The paramedics told me that he was under a lot of stress and that can cause a heart attack. I didn't believe them, but that was the only other explanation. There was no foul play suspected. Nothing.

What could I do? Nothing, I couldn't do a damn thing about it. All I could do was watch as my Dad was lowered into the ground right beside my mom.

Never to tell me that he loved me. Never again will I see his face, smiling as I would tell him that he was bad ass even though he needed crutches to walk. Never to be normal again. Never ever. No matter how much I wished it to not be true. It was. And now I live with my older brother. Now Leam will never have a life.

"Hey," said a peppy voice that could only belong to Cindy Hope Martter. Her blond hair was curled up. It made her bubbly personality even more bubbly than it already was. She had her make up perfectly done. Over all, she was hot.

"Umm, hey," I said feeling a little stupid. "You're Xander, right?" she asked bouncing one of her curls. "Yeah," I said confused. She sat down next to me. "Do you want to do the project on coral or jellyfish?" Is she my partner? Well duh! Why else would she be here? "Uhh jellyfish?" I said. "Good answer," she said jokingly.
