Saraphina;
I stood on the edge of a beam. I could feel air rush around me and fill my lungs. I smiled at the only power I have that I can use whenever I want to. With a jump start, of course. I turned around, closed my eyes, and then, I let myself drop.
I plummeted to the ground at a speed I didn't know excited. Just before I hit the ground, I went up. I circled around beams, up down. On my back, on my stomach, I flew everywhere.
"What are you doing?" asked Rocky. "Breathing, why do you ask?" I responded. "Because you're flying upside down." I looked at him. I hadn't noticed that I was upside-down. "I don't know," I admitted. He gave me a concerned look.
I floated upright. "Are you alright?" Rocky asked gently. "Yeah, I'm fine," I lied. "No you're not," he said. "If you already knew that then why did you ask?" I said. "I don't know, but I do know that you are scared, worried, and you are hungry," he said handing me a bag of chips. It was true. I haven't ate in who knows when.
"Thanks," I said opening the bag. I could always count on Rocky for whatever I need. Don't get me wrong, I can trust Saphira and Shifter, but they have there own stuff to worry about. "Now, why are you not okay?" he asked. "Would you believe me if I said it was my raging teenage girl hormones?" I asked stuffing chips into my mouth.
"Nope, now for real. What's wrong?" I sighed and gently landed onto the ground. He put his huge hand on my tiny shoulder. "It's tonight's mission, isn't it? You are scared because they haven't been as successful as you have been hoping." I was honestly a little shocked. He never spoke like this to me.
I looked at my feet. I didn't usually talk about my role as leader or any of the things that came with it. Usually I would've dismissed the statement, but I saw no point in lying.
"I'm not going to lie," I said looking at my feet. "I'm terrified," I felt tears burn my eyes. It was embarrassing, crying like this in front of someone, but I couldn't help it anymore. "Saraphina, don't worry. It will be just fine, I promise," he said.
I looked up at him and smiled. "Don't make promises that you can't keep." He looked at me. "What could go wrong?" Rocky asked. Everything.
I tried to keep that from my mind, but it was difficult. "Thank you Rocky," I said looking at him. He wouldn't meet my eyes and blushed. "No problem, bud," he said softly punching my shoulder.
"Okay? I'll see you later," I said looking at the soldiers that piled in slowly.
"Yeah, I'm probably needed in section M-H." With that he tripped over his own feet. He looked around to see if anyone saw, he noticed my cocked eyebrow, and ran off.
Okay then, I thought. "Miss Saraphina?" I turned around to Saphira's friend, Calli. He has been here as long as I have. Probably longer, yet he's never been on a mission and I didn't know why.
"Yes Mr. Calli?" I said as a joke. "I need to come with you guys on this mission," he stated. "Oh," I said. "Okay, just fall in line, I'll put you on the list," I said smiling. "No, you can't put me on that list!" Calli yelled.
Everyone looked at us. "Come with me," he said. I stayed put. "Please?" he said. I sighed and followed him into the next room. "Mr. Calli, may I ask what's going on?" I said as respectfully as I could.
"Okay, Pepper can't know that I'm going on a mission with you," he said quietly. "Why not?" I asked. "That's classified, now, you are going to need my help. You won't get out alive without me," he said serious as a heart attack.
Oh really? How do I know that you won't get us all killed? I thought to myself. "Because I'm very different Miss Saraphina," he said as a evil grin spread across his face. "As you can tell, I have a couple of special abilities. I can see into the future, read minds, and I always know your intentions."
