A month or so had passed since the incident with Nathaniel and her so called friends at the time. The group hadn't spoken to her ever since and she even asked Mrs. Bustier to move her seat to the back. This has become her normal, being alone and waking up with that nagging feeling of loneliness. The girl sat up in her bed and looked around her room.
It was another day, simple as that for Marinette. It was just another day where the weight of being ladybug ate at her. The statement was evident in both her mental and physical state. The girl who was already quite skinny had begun to thin out even more, her cheeks sinking in slightly. She usually covered the obvious change with baggy clothes and thick materials. With her knack for designing she was good at figuring out which styles made someone look a tad bigger in certain areas.The girl slid down her ladder and settled down on the ground of her room. She followed her normal morning routine before getting dressed in a baggy sweater and thick wool leggings, sliding her normal flats on. All that was left now was her hair, she wore it differently now to cover the obvious change to her face. She curled her hair, the curls rested all over her face and did a good job of filling out her face. This look would be good enough to fool her unassuming classmates.
Making her way downstairs she grabbed a eclair to keep her parents from getting suspicious about her eating habits. Shoving the treat in her mouth and forcing herself to swallow it on her way to class. However, this action only made her feel ill with each step she took towards the huge brick complex. Making it to the stairs she passed by her old friends, hanging out and laughing together. She knows that their friendship was as strong as ever with one less occupant.
"What a sad sight this is! Poor little Marinette all by herself!" Someone called out but Marinette didn't look up to figure out who said it, not that she really cared about who was talking about her. She silently made her way up into the class room and took her seat in the back corner of the class room. The room smelt like old textbook and was quite peaceful when it was empty. She opened a book and began to read, when their were moments like this she felt like maybe everything would ended up okay. That everyone who has an amazing story has some extreme hardship. She continued reading until class began, unbeknownst to her that she was being watched by someone she used to wish would notice her.
Adrien.
His eyes watched the girl, it was the first time in a while that he had looked at her. When had their group grown apart? It wasn't like Nino and Alya seemed to mind all that much, saying that she just became to busy to be their friend but when that become a factor to their friendship. If it was about being separated too much, would they eventually leave him behind too because of his time as Chat Noir? Of course not, something more had to be the reason Marinette had become so distanced from the group. Thought getting her back into the group wasn't at the top of his to-do list. He still decided that he's approach her at the end of the day and speak to her to see how she was doing.
The day per usual passed on without a hitch, well at least to Adrien. For Marinette it was an entirely different story, she had returned home for lunch which consisted of an orange and water cup. She then spent the rest of her day hearing everyone's words about her. Not a single one of them was kind, although there were also people who didn't say a thing, which she deemed the kindest. Now she was heading home clutching onto her backpack, trying to make it home without catching the attention of anyone.
Unfortunately for Marinette, Adrien was searching for her and it takes him no time to find her. He sprints after her and grabbed her arm.
"Hey Marinette, I'm glad I caught you! I wanted to see how you were." The boy took a deep breath and stood up straight.
"I'm fine Adrien, just doing what I do best."
The girls voice was monotone, she no longer had a stutter when speaking to her childish crush. Her composure seemed to make Adrien feel more uncomfortable than when she would stutter over her words. He didn't understand why she suddenly was able to speak to him like it was nothing special.
"If that's All Adrien I think I'll be heading home."
"Wait no!" He grabbed her arm once more, causing her to wince, his eyes moved to her arm and the marks that were barely visible from her sleeve. He let go in shock and Marinette ran off before he could gather his thoughts. He went to run after her but stopped once she was out of sight. What could Adrien do? Why chase her, it would only make other people suspicious as which to why Adrien would chase after an old friend. He felt a small pain in his chest, a friend who had lost their way and he wasn't there to help.{Updated March 31st}
