Marinette had made it home and locked herself in her room, it was all she could now. With a heavy pain in her heart she slowly contemplated her options. She climbed up to her bed and laid face down into her soft comforter.
What could she die to make this all end? How could she get this pain to fade away and for the aching feeling of her friends leaving her behind. She could start to do homeschool but she's have to watch her old classmates pass by the bakery in their way home, also her parents would get suspicious. Going back to school was not an option. She gasped an idea came to her, Tikki was sleeping in her bag so she wouldn't have to worry about an interruption.
Marinette crawled up onto her balcony. The sun was going down, the orange glow of the sunset kiting her features and complimenting the soft blue undertones of her hair. She leaned against the railing and decided to wait until the sun went down to complete her plan. She'd have dinner with her family, finish her homework and finish sewing that dress she'd been working on since the beginning of the school year. The girl turned around and went back into her home.
Dinner went by slowly as Marinette took in the last moments she'd thought she'd have with her loving parents. They'd be heartbroken when they found out. They all looked peaceful and serene unknowingly being watched by a jealous cat from the window. They looked happy to him, like not a single thing could have bothered them. He scoffed and held himself tight as he watched Marinette wish her parents a good night and head into her room. He moved so he could see through her window, being a bit shocked by the sight. Marinette was packing a backpack. A change of a clothes, lots of saved up cash, cans of food, and other necessities. It didn't take long before the girl was sneaking out of her home and towards a more unpopulated part of town.
The girl took so many backstreets that he lost her for a while. The next time he saw her she was in a roof, she had set up a small camp. The cat didn't want to approach her immediately but over the course of the next few days he became more and more concerned. Her parents searching for her and Adrien not being able to say anything without revealing who he was.
So like he had been doing every night for the last week he watched her from a few buildings away. Tonight was different though, she was standing in the edge of the building, not a single lick of fear on her face. Though it didn't reflect what she was feeling inside. She turned her back from the drop and leaned back, letting her body fall through the nights dense air. Marinette felt a weight being snatched from her until she felt a familiar pair of strong arms catch her. She opened her eyes only to realized she was being cradled by none other than Chat Noir, his panicked face close to hers.
"Marinette Are you okay? Why did you jump? Don't you know everyone is looking for you?!?" He was practically yelling in more scared anger, she simply rolled her eyes.
"That's sorta the point Chat Noir." The way she said his name more malicious than he'd ever heard.
"Why? What made you think that was the answer? You could've died!" The Cat set her down in the roof top she had just tried to jump from.
"That was the Point you stupid cat. Im so tired of being treated like the dirt beneath people's feet. Wether it be some spoiled rich girl or the people I used to call friends. I'm just so tired Chat." The girls voice sounded almost as exhausted as she looked, how long had it been since she last slept? The cat scanned her up and down, it was the first time in a while she has worn short sleeves. Her arms were scarred and red, they even looked thinner than usual.
"Marinette what have you been doing to yourself?" His question was met with silence, so he persisted. "Why didn't you reach out for help?" Once again more silence. Marinette had already begun packing her stuff and retreating away from Chat Noir, not bothering to say goodbye. He didn't chase her, he knew it wasn't the right time so he watched her go.
He sunk down to his knees and let his transformation remove itself. He was now just Adrien, a model, someone who he used to think was a good person. Marinette Said her own friends drive her to this... This was partially his fault and now he knew just how much she held him responsible. He couldn't help but sob and berate himself for hurting someone that was so kind.
"How could've I have done this to you Marinette, my precious friend."
