"Fetch the doctor!" Edward ordered as he helped me off the horse and into a building. It was too dark for me to tell where we were and I had fought against sleep most of the way so staggered along with him to a room.
"I don't need a doctor," I informed him.
"Yes you do," he replied.
"Edward!" his wife called as she hurried towards us. "I heard... they are all dead," she said crying as Edward hugged her close.
"Yes I'm afraid so," he replied. "We are lucky to have Tahira back."
"Why did they do that?" she cried.
"To stop what we are endeavouring to create," he whispered.
I walked into the bathroom intending to wash myself. Placing down the bow and arrows I still had in case we ran into trouble.
"How did you get her back?" she asked.
"She escaped and saved my life during the battle," Edward replied.
She gasped and cried at the horror of losing him. They were in love. I had rarely seen it before but I knew you could not cry over someone's well being without it being love. They were blessed with a baby and each other. I envied them.
"Where is she?" I heard my husband ask in haste before rushing through the door to me and pulling me into his arms. No one had ever held me so close and so tight. No one had ever cared about me like he obviously did right now and with that thought I allowed myself to hug him back.
"Is she ok?" a voice asked. "Did they take her virtue?" the voice asked.
"We haven't checked but she was drugged and kept separate from the others," Edward informed the voice in the other room.
"But reports stated that the others were raped and murdered. How do you know that she wasn't rape whilst drugged before she escaped?" the voice asked.
"We don't. We were too busy fighting for our lives and she fought for hers too," Edward replied.
"I want her checked. I don't want Kaylan getting attached to her if she is ruined," the voice replied and my both Kaylan and I broke from our embrace to listen.
"He is already attached and married. She is his wife. That is why they took her..."
"Yes and why they would rape her!" the voice spat back. "Bring her out," the voice ordered.
"Tahira can you come here for a moment," Edward called.
I took a deep breath as I walked out my eyes to the floor as before.
"Tahira this is Manu he is going to ask you some questions," Edward informed me.
"Look at me," the voice ordered. I looked up to see a short balding mad, with grey hair and a robe. "Were you raped?" he asked.
I shook my head to indicate no.
"Are you sure you weren't rape whilst you were drugged and held alone?" he asked. "It seems strange they would take to raping the others so quickly but leave you aside especially given who your husband is. I would have raped you first."
I had no response so stayed quiet.
"Do you hurt between your legs or lower stomach?" he asked.
I nodded and fought back the tears.
"That means nothing!" Edward argued. "She has been fighting hand to hand with men, running for her life to meet me half way up a mountain and travelled on horseback for hours. Plus she has not eaten since the day before I arrived in her city, was poisoned and drugged whilst in our care. She is tired, hungry, injured and battle weary so please don't upset her any more with your allegations."
