"Have you seen my husband?" I asked a servant.
"He is training," was the answer.
"Where is that? Can I see him?" I asked.
"I will take you," they offered and escorted me toward a room. I heard the clanging of weapons and men's voices. I expected to enter the room and see him training with a sword instead I entered a room and saw him training others. Young, old, men and women.
"Very good," he said to an elderly woman. "Hold it sure, do not falter," he said helping her. She smiled at him adoringly. "Again," he said and allowed her to attack him. "Well done," he said as she got the better of him. I could see he let her but to her she was victorious and she hugged him after as she rejoiced.
"YAH!!!" a young boy yelled as he charged at Kaylan. He swung his wooden sword at Kaylan's knee and Kaylan fell to the floor dramatically as the little boy jumped on and tried to best him.
"Where is my weakness?" Kaylan asked him as he lay on the floor and held the boy above him at arms length. The little boy looked quickly and wiggled forward with his body so his feet could stamp on Kaylans head. "Oww," Kaylan said as he threw the boy in the air and caught him again. The boy loved it and wanted more so Kaylan threw him up and down several more times.
Endeya appeared at my side. "For a man so loving to hear he is not loved is heartbreaking for me to witness, let alone for him to feel," she said and her eyes filled with tears which quickly fell. "Kaylan said he would watch the baby today whilst I get the others to help on the market as they may meet husbands there," she said wiping away the tears and sniffing. The baby cried in her arms and Kaylan looked up and over at us. He stood up and walked over with the little boy holding his hand.
"Go get some breakfast," he said the little boy who ran off into another room. The baby leant forward out of her mothers arms and reached for Kaylan. He put his arms out and took her. She snuggled up to his chest and stopped crying as he rubbed her back and kissed her head. "She kept you awake," he said to Endeya.
"Yes, half the night but such is motherhood," she said smiling at her child. "Thank you for offering to watch over her."
"No, thank you for trusting me to care for her. It means a lot and I adore her. She gets more beautiful everyday," he said kissing the babies head again as she snuggled into him. Her little arm through his and hanging on to his shirt at the back with a chubby hand. "We are going to have a wonderful day," he said. "Lets go see if you are hungry beautiful baby," he said and walked off with her to the room where the little boy ran.
"Did you apologise?" Endeya asked.
"I tried but he just came to bed and lay down. I said sorry but he just slept and was gone when I woke. I came her to find him," I said.
"You don't need to find him here," she said. "You need to find him there," she replied and pointed to my heart.
I nodded as she walked away and left me to think upon her words.
I heard the baby laughing closely followed by the laughter of others and walked towards the door. Kaylan was sat at a table with others. He had the baby sat on the edge of the table facing him and the little boy next to him. The boy made 'Buuugggggaaaaa, Buuuuuuggggaaa,' noises to the baby and pulled faces at her. She thought it was hilarious and laughed hysterically. It was a wonderful sound. Everyone else laughed as I stood at the door watching and smiling myself.
"Are you joining us?" Edward asked behind me making me jump.
"No thank you," I replied. "I just came to speak to my husband."
