"There have been reports that a person with the ability to teleport has been roaming the area. All units please be aware, you are to try and apprehend the suspect."
The government agent clicked his tongue and reclined his seat further back. "Honestly, how do they expect to apprehend someone who can teleport? Slap a nice pair of cuffs on the guy, and poof, he vanishes to God knows where."
"With all due respect, Mr. Asuhara, but why did you wish to accompany us on patrol?" The officer behind the wheel adjusted the rearview mirror to meet Kira's gaze, and he continued, "Wouldn't a person in your position be better suited behind a desk?" He stopped for a moment and, realizing the disrespectful nature of his words began to correct himself but was cut off by the agent's hand on his shoulder.
"And that's exactly why I chose you and your partner, Mr. Suzuki. I've read your file and you've got an astonishing amount of arrests under your belt, so I feel much safer under your protection." Kira flashed him a smile and he felt the officer sigh in relief. "After all, I'm not very capable of defending myself so I'll have to leave that in your hands, officer. Sorry for any trouble."
"Sir!"
"Four-niner, suspect spotted two clicks east of you. Please move in to intercept. Other patrols have also been informed and will follow."
"Well you heard the lady, step on it Suzuki! Let's go get ourselves another perp!" Suzuki's partner chimed in, earning a nod from Suzuki.
The car's sirens began to ring as the four-seater roared to life. Suzuki stepped on the accelerator and took a sharp right at the intersection. The cars littering the road moved to the side, paving a way for the police cruiser.
"Hey, there he is! Pull over."
The car came to a screeching halt and the three exited. Kira placed his hands in his pockets and flashed a smile at Suzuki, who nodded and pulled out his stun rod. His partner did the same, and the two walked towards the suspect.
Kira stayed behind and watched as the two made their way towards the suspect. He appeared to be a man in his mid to late twenties, and from the look on his face, he seemed more than glad to see the officers.
He spotted four of the police forces' quadruped Prowler's around the man. Their frames were looking a lot worse for wear, and he could see surges of electricity from the cracks in their armor.
The agent's grin grew wider.
Mugen City was known for being almost a decade ahead of its time. Almost everything was self-automated, ranging from the traffic lights to roadblocks to the city's self-defense force, as well as for more practical uses like kiosks at malls and flea markets.
While not having seen them himself, he heard a great many things about the city's mechanized forces, the Prowlers. First commissioned two years ago, the city's crime rate soon became non-existent thanks to their abilities. The quadruped robots that stood at an alarming four feet were armed with the latest in non-lethal equipment.
Their tails were made with the same material as the police issued stun rods, and two cannons were hidden in their shoulders housing pellets that created a small shock upon impact.
For a single man to have taken four of them out at once, teleportation or not, he must've been a good fighter.
"Ah, officers, I was wondering when you'd show up." The man spoke as the two officers entered combat range. Their stun rods were cracking with electricity, but he didn't seem too worried about it. "You see, fighting these Prowlers just really aren't any fun. Will you do better?"
