"B-Bird person?" Rick stuttered, releasing (Y/N).
Phoenix person remained silent, as (Y/N) stood in awe. Silent tears began to run down Ricks face, as he took a step closer, only for Phoenix person's arms to turn into guns.
Rick snapped out of his dazed state, whipping his body around, and picking (Y/N) up with ease. "This can't be good..." he whispered, running down the road. Bullets began to fire, causing (Y/N) to grip onto Ricks lab coat out of fear.
A bullet entered his shoulder, causing him to drop her onto the pavement with a thud. She winced in pain, but was more concerned for Rick than her own safety.
"Rick what can I do?!" She whispered yelled, rushing to her feet.
Her arm was bleeding badly, and it needed to have stitches, she knew that. She didn't know how to treat a bullet wound, but she knew the bullet hadn't exited. Phoenix person flew into the air with a battle cry, as Rick pushed a button on his watch.
He shoved her onto the grass, giving her a sad smile as he was engulfed by flames. She was too shocked to move, unable to comprehend what just happened. Phoenix person flew up into the night, the only sound that night, was the metal of his wings flying into space.
Rick was no where to be found. She stood up wobbly, only to fall back onto her knees and begin sobbing. She yelled his name into the deathly silence of the night. She couldn't move, her throat and eyes burned, this was officially the end.
She laid on the cool grass of somebody's front yard, finally feeling the cold of this dark, depressing night. She shut her eyes, her muscles relaxing with each shaking breath she took.
She suddenly was lifted off the ground. Her heavy eyelids opened reluctantly as she was carried into the air. She looked into somebody's dark blue eyes, then to the spiked blue hair, and finally to the lab coat.
Her eyes widened as she looked at the mans face, he was a lot younger, maybe even her age. Her throat burned so she couldn't speak, only a squeak of excitement could be heard as she gripped his lab coat harder than ever before, as if she would loose him again.
"It's okay." He coed. "I would never leave you forever..."
"H-How..." she choked out.
"I was planning on changing into this eighteen year old body so it wouldn't be weird for anyone seeing us, but..." he sighed, and looked to the sky. "Bird person, what have they done to you...?"
"D-Did you die...?" She asked, her throats burning with every word.
"In a way, yes. But I managed to find a way to transfer my mind long distance, so I changed into this body..."
They stood in silence, (Y/N) with her head pressed to his chest, listening to his heartbeat. Her eyelids slowly closed, as Rick smirked to himself.
He hadn't meant to scare her like this, and it hurt him to know she felt this much pain. He slowly began walking back home, as the sky erupted in a bright red color. He didn't want to wake her, and he kept her as still as possible, until her finally reached the two story house.
He opened the door with little difficulty, and walked into the silent household. He claimed the stairs, and laid her on his twin sized bed. She stayed asleep that entire time, even as he wrapped the blankets around her.
He kissed her forehead, and walked out the bedroom door. Morty stood disapprovingly in his doorway, as Rick closed the door to his bedroom.
"Morty, she's going through a lot already. She doesn't need your shit added on." Rick said angrily to the smaller boy.
"Just because you're in a younger body, doesn't mean Mom will support it..." Morty rolled his eyes.
"Your mom also has enough on her plate, at least be a good son Morty." Rick said, walking towards the stairwell.
"She's going to be pissed that you did this-"
"Then let her be Morty." Rick snapped, walking down the stairs.
"Dad?" Beth asked surprised. "Why are you... so young?"
"Science." He shrugged. "How was work?"
"Exhausting..." Beth sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry honey, I can smell some of my lab equipment if-"
"No!" She said. "No! I like how my job is! It's better than working on horses... how's (Y/N) handling it?"
Rick looked down. "That's kinda why I changed into being this young... I figured if she had somebody somewhat matching her IQ and age, maybe she'd feel more included or something..."
"Dad, just date her already." Beth smiled. "It's honestly better that your that age for that relationship anyway. You do you dad."
"Thanks Beth." Rick smiled, hugging her.
"Would she be..." Beth began.
"No." Rick chuckled. "Just ignore that factor please..."
"Okay..." she chuckled nervously.
"Go. Get some sleep." Rick said breaking the hug.
She nodded and walked up the stairs, and collapsed into her bed. Rick smiled as he walked into his garage, and pulled out a photo frame.
It was a picture of him and Bird Person drinking together. Life had been so much simpler back then...
He sighed and put the picture back, and began upgrading his weapons, and doing tests to make sure this body wouldn't become murderous or something.
