Eleven o'clock morphs into twelve and turns into one.  Time trickles by, marked only by those changing glowing numerals. My mind is blank and empty, where there should be hopes and dreams now remains only heavy blackness. My eyes are as stationary as the silhouette of the night lamp, which is where they rest. And as more time passes by, it's now two o'clock in the morning.

My mind flickers to the side table and the sleeping pills the doctor prescribed. I don't want them, I don't want chemicals. I close my eyes and they almost sting, open for far too long I guess.  After some moments I recall something in the past and let it mull around my head.

It was exactly five years ago. I was 15.

" Hey Maya. Want to come and hang out with us at the mall?  "

A girl name Min Ah approached me. She was one of those popular girls with a pretty face and large, flowy, voluminous hair and is always almost constantly perfect.

" Um, you're actually inviting me?  "

" Yeah, why not? You look cool to hang out with! "

" Um, yeah. Sure, I would love that "

Deep down I was actually quite delighted. I finally found a friend that I could hang out with. I was happy and ecstatic. We drove to a mall nearby and there were two more of them as we entered a retail shop.

" Hey girls, I have someone new to introduce. This is Maya. "

" Hey girl! You're so pretty. I like your skirt. "
says one of the girls.

She happens to have a really beautiful, flowy blonde hair that falls perfectly on the her sensible shoulders.

" Peggie, she's wearing the same skirt like we do. It's our school uniform. "
says the other girl with thick curly ash brown hair.

"  But she totally wears it better.
Anyways, hi I'm Peggie. "

" Hey I'm Maya. "

" And I'm Gabbie. "

" Nice to meet you. "

" Okay cool, enough with the formal introduction. Now how about we start shopping? "
Min Ah interrupts.

It was fun. I had a great time choosing and exchanging clothes with them as we try them on in the fitting room. I finally felt like I belong somewhere and that I am not alone.

Until...

"Omo"

"Omg what Min Ah?"

"I forgot to bring my wallet."

"Omg, now that you mention it I forgot mine as well.  How about you,  Peggie? "

"Actually mine is in the ba-"
Peggie couldn't finish her sentence as Min Ah abruptly stomped her feet to stop her from talking.
