I can't remember... Scratch that. All three of us can't remember anything!
Jaylah's POV
*before*
"What do you know about our kind?"
"Mom and Dad said that our kind is more advanced then humans. They said that we all have an ability, but mine, Jaymes, and Jayden's are an exception."
She nodded. "That's it?"
"Kind of. They also told us about the Prince and His Love and how he ran away the day he was suppose to marry this other woman."
She laughed.
"What?" I asked
"I should give you parents more credit."
"What? Were they lying?"
"No, they just weren't telling the whole truth." She studied me for a while. "Do you want to know the story, the whole story I mean."
I nodded.
Chapter 13
"It all started in the 1800's when our kind finally decide to have a King and Queen again. The problem was we didn't know who to elect as King and Queen. Five years later, they found the perfect King and Queen. They, the council of elders, picked the most respected and most known of our kind.
"The new King and Queen were to be well known, liked, respected through out the community, and responsible and able to resolve conflict. Although, they thought that their choice of King and Queen were the right one, the King and Queen themselves failed.
"The only choice we had now was to find another King and Queen. This time the elders studied each possible candidate for the role. They evaluated each person. Watched their every move, till they found the perfect pair.
"They ruled for a really, really, REALLY, long time." And I could have sworn I heard her say. "Old hags " under her breath.
I held in a chuckle. " But what about the story about the Prince and his love you said that Mom and Dad were keeping something from us. What was it?"
"Ah yes. Prince Elijah. He was going to be the third King to rule our kind. He knew that the rule was that he were to be married to the woman of his parents choice to be King, but he was too excited to become King to even care.
"The day that he were to meet his fiancé came. Once he saw her he knew that he could not Marry such a woman. He had said that she would act haughty at all times. Never thinking of others only herself. Quiet frankly she was the opposite of everything a queen were to be."
"Then why did his parents choose her?" I asked.
"Blackmail."
I was about to ask what they had on Prince Elijah's family that could make his parents choose such a malevolent woman for their own son to marry, but Grandma beat me to it.
"No, one knows or even remembers, but we do know that it was the cause for the catastrophe that transpired."
"What do you mean?" I was interested in the story. I wanted to know more of what happened. My parents told me some of the story, but not enough for me to really understand.
"Well, one day Prince Elijah and Gertrude; the woman he were to Marry-"
"Eww that's her name?!" I scrunched my face in disgust.
Grandma nodded and chuckled. "And trust me it really suits her."
I giggled.
"Prince Elijah and Gertrude went to a dinner party one evening," Grandma continued, "that was the night he met the love his life. He had described it as love at first sight. Although, your Gra- I mean Elijah was in love with this mademoiselle, the girl herself was not in love with him. Every time he would try to speak to her she either ignored him or hit him."
