Chapter 12

Jaylah's POV

I woke up feeling light headed. I opened my eyes, and I was introduced to the bright sun rays. I quickly snapped my eyes shut.

I groaned. There was a childish giggle that came from beside me.

I opened my eyes finally aware of my surroundings. I was lying down on a couch in the living room. My head was lying on someone's lap. The person was gently running their fingers through my dark hair. I looked up to see Grandma smiling down at me.

I sat up. I opened my mouth to speak, but my mouth was too dry.

I cleared my throat. It was still hard to speak, but I still managed to get a couple words out.

"Grandma water..." My voice sounded weak and desperate. It was very choppy.

She chuckled. Then I heard that giggled again. I turned my head and came face to face with the most adorablest little girl I have ever seen. I jumped startled. The little girl had curly, golden blond, hair that reached just below her shoulders. She had these dark green eyes that reminded me of the forest. They were almost as dark as Jaymes's, but hers were darker.

She smiled at me when she noticed me staring. "Hi," She said. Her voice sounded so innocent and high pitched, not in an annoying way, but in a childish way.

I tried to speak but this time nothing came out. I ran my hands through my hair frustrated. I looked towards Grandma with a helpless expression.

She chuckled. "Honey, go get Jaylah some water please." She told the little girl.

The girl nodded then disappeared, literally. One second she was there, then the next she wasn't. I looked towards Grandma with a surprised expression. All she did was shake her head.

"Here you go," The little girl's voice said from beside me. I jumped back and hit my head on the back of the chair.

I grimaced in pain. The girl handed me the glass of water. I drank it all.

"Thanks." My voice was still a little raspy, so I cleared my throat. "What happened?"

"You took a very loooong nap," The little girl said as she crawled onto my lap.

I nodded. "Uh so what's your name?"

She smiled. "I am Princess Callieandra, but Mommy and Daddy calls me Callie. I don't know why though... Oooo, but you can call me Draya. I like it don't you? I think it's a pretty a name. I think that's why brother gave it to me."

I nodded again. "Uh, who are your Mommy and Daddy?"

She turned and pointed to Grandma. "That's Mommy." Then she pointed toward Grandpa - who looked like he was having a very stimulating conversation with Mom, Dad, and Jaymes, and Jayden. "That's my Daddy. Mommy says he's handsome, but I don't see it." She giggled.

"You're just jealous of my good looks!" Grandpa called from across the room.

Draya giggled.

Okay let me get this straight if Grandma and Grandpa are Draya's parents. Then that means that she's Dad's sister, which makes her my Aunt.

Whoa! Major headache!

"Uh, excuse me Draya I kind of... I'm hungry so I'd like to go to the kitchen to get something to eat, but you're like... Well you're sort of sitting on me?" I said unsure of my lie.

She smiled apologetically, stood up and stepped aside. "Sorry," she mumbled as she looked down.

"It's fine." And with that I headed towards the kitchen. It wasn't until I got there that I realized that I was actually hungry. I raided the whole kitchen. The refrigerator had nothing that looked appetizing at the moment. I went to the cabinets and search through those and was about to give up till I found the most delicious found source of food EVER invented.

Skittles. (Sigh)

Before I grabbed the huge bag of Skittles I checked if the coast was clear. I stuck my head out the kitchen doorway and took a fleeting look toward the living room. They were still talking - looking like a bunch of business men (and women). They were so engrossed into their conversation that they hadn't even noticed me staring; well all except for my oh so wonderful father.

He studied me for a while. He had a smirk on his face. He wiggled his eyebrows then shook his head. 'Addict' he mouthed before he rejoined the conversation.

I sigh and went to take custody of that package of bite sized sugary goodness that was coated in a fruity flavored hard covered shell. Translation: I sighed frustrated and snatched the package of Skittles and stuffed a couple in my mouth as I headed toward the library. Woo! That was a mouthful. Haha see what I did there? That sentence had two meanings to it. Do you see it? Huh? Do you? Do you?

Umm... Anyways. I entered the library and went straight toward the bookshelves. I hadn't been here in a while. The last time was the first day I woke up, having no clue of where I was, who I was, or what happened.

I selected one of the many books out of one of the shelves and looked at the cover. It was blank. No title.

I opened the book and the pages were empty. Nothing. Empty.

"The only way to read that book is with the ability deep within," A voice came from behind me.

"What do you mean?" I asked not even turning around, I already knew who it was.

"The words will appear to those with good intentions."

I looked at her confused. "Okay Grandma, can you stop talking like that. You sound like a fortune cookie."

She chuckled. "Come sit, let me tell you a story."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What do you know about our kind?"
"Mom and Dad said that our kind is more advanced then humans. They said that we all have an ability, but mine, Jaymes, and Jayden's are an exception."
She nodded. "That's it?"
"Kind of they also told us about the prince and his love and how he ran away the day he was suppose to marry this other woman."
She laughed.
"What?" I asked
"I should give you parents more credit."
"What? Were they lying?"
"No, they just weren't telling the whole truth." She studied me for a while. "Do you want to know the story, the whole story I mean."
I nodded.
"It all started in the 1800's...
Kay peoples Hope you like this chapter. I don't know I've been kind of iffy on my work lately. I think I might take a break in writing and focus more on school then in the summer really work on my stories to my abilities. I'm not sure if I will yet so don't start crying now.
