The Life of a Thief

Chapter Three

Hey guys, as promised, here is an update and sorry that it is short but the next chapter has a lot of stuff happening in it and I wanted to try to break it up a bit. Hope you enjoy chapter three of The life of a thief.

Nicole's POV

I sat down on a bench and took my phone out, I played on a few games until I heard someone sit down next to me. I turned to my left and saw the man I met yesterday, he turned so that he was slighty facing me and smiled kindly at me.

"Hello Ms Davis. How are you today?" He asked me, his voice calm.

"What do you want?" I asked, getting straight to the point. He sighed and turned his body so that he was facing me completely.

"I want to offer you a job." He stated. I looked at him, hiding my shock. "I think that you are good at what you do, but I also think that you could be better. And I want to help you." He said quietly.

"Why would you want to help me?" I asked him skeptically.

"Because you have no one." He answered me softly. My eyebrows shot up in surprise. I stood up quickly and turned to face him.

"How do you know that?"

"You still had the comm that Parker gave you when you left. We tracked it and it led me to a motel. And from there I made an intuitive leap." He explained to me. I sat slowly and tried to hide my shock.

"What's in it for you?" I asked him.

"A new member of the team would be a good idea. And you would be useful for cons that involve younger people." He said. "And we would also be able to improve your skills, make you a better thief and also teach you how to be a grifter, hacker, hitter and maybe a mastermind." He stood up. "If you decide to join the team, come to McRorys bar. If you don't want to, then it was nice to meet you and maybe we'll meet again." He left and I stared after him and once he was gone, I stood up and walked back to the motel.

I opened the door to my room and entered, quickly shutting the door behind me. I spent the rest of the day thinking about whether I should go to McRorys or not. At about six o clock, I decided to go and get a drink.

I walked to a café that had computers and went in. I ordered myself a hot chocolate and paid the required amount before going to one of the computers. I clicked on Google and searched for directions to McRorys bar. I went up to the waitress and asked her if I could have a piece of paper and a pen, she handed them to me and also gave me my drink. I smiled and went to the computer and wrote down the directions from the motel. I closed the internet and drank my hot chocolate quickly before thanking the waitress and leaving the café. I walked back to the motel and got a packet of crisps and went to my room. I sat on the bed and thought of all the pros and cons of accepting Nate Ford's offer. Once I had eaten the crisps, I took a shower and climbed into bed. After finally deciding what I would do, I fell asleep.
