NatashaI couldn't understand why I was still happy days after Jason had asked me out. Nothing could touch me. Even Maths had become more bearable!
I ignored Michael and let him do as he pleased, even if it meant him being with Sharon. She still glared at me occasionally but for the most part, she let me be. And so school started to settle down once again. People left me alone and it was like the last couple of weeks had never happened.
As me and Jason were eating lunch with Marina, who was excitedly talking about how she had met some guy in her AP English class, I felt a nudge from Jason and he quietly whispered "can you do tonight?"
I nodded and indicated that he should let Marina talk. It was the first time she had gotten excited over a guy in ages, and I didn't want anything to ruin that for her.
"His name is James and we met whilst discussing Romeo and Juliet!" she sighed. I could recognise the gleam in her eyes as she unintentionally got excited when she mentioned him.
I sighed; I was scared for Marina, and honestly a little jealous.
"So where's he taking you?" I asked with interest. I wanted to show her that I could be the one to listen to her, rather than the other way round.
"Well we are actually just meeting at his place," Marina admitted. "He said he wanted to take it slow at first, before we go on any actual dates."
RED FLAG.
ABORT.
MISSION.
I looked at her and saw her eyes full of hope. What can I say without sounding like a shitty person?
Hey your friend seems like he wants to get into your pants without taking the time to know you and what makes you so amazing. Maybe you should quit whilst you're ahead and find a nice, mature man in College!
I shook my head; I couldn't diminish her crush for him. Even if I said something it would sound petty and jealous, and I wanted to support her for once!
So I stuffed my face with food and nodded avidly as she went on talking about him. Was this what I sounded like? Maybe I should focus on my work than boys; maybe my mum was right after all.
I felt a pang of home sickness in my heart.
Mum if you come back I'll tell you that you were right.
Marina was looking at me expectantly and I had no idea what she said.
So much for being a good friend!
I just nodded and allowed her to continue until the bell went.
*RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG*
Marina stood up and practically ran to her next class. Can you guess which one it was?
Jason laughed as he stood up with me. "She's definitely crazy about him."
"Well she deserves a little bit of romance in her life," I retorted looking him dead in the eye.
"She's not the only one," he flirtatiously whispered in my ear.
I shuddered internally and forced myself to snap out of it.
"I'll text you with the details later on," he said as he kissed my cheek.
AND HE WALKED AWAY.
!!!!
What was I supposed to do?!
I rubbed my arms awkwardly; my body felt like it had too many limbs in that moment. I looked around me, seeing if there was anyone who could verify what had just happened.
