Chapter 4

I don't know where, I'm running to, or how long I've been running. But I know what I'm running from at least and I need to keep going. to flashes of thunder and a downfall of red rain, the killer must have shot a blood vessel for that much blood to come out.

I stumble, and stop, waiting, listening, watching. The darkness has gone, but then it hasn't. for today he has done his job, but tomorrow is a new day. And a new day brings new trials, tomorrow it will (assuming its professional) find me, and I will have to keep running.

The rain has lightened up to a light shower, the road is a river, and I see lights in buildings up ahead. A nice warn Inn, with hot soup and a hot bath, and a nice warm bed. That's what I'm imagining when I find I have no money, damn it! I briskly walk towards the lights and its a small town at first, but then I see a sign "Ayr".

Wow, I'm already in Scotland, in a city, I know no one, the house and all my belongings are in Edinburgh, could be worse though. I keep walking, and soon I see a young girl around the age of thirteen looking at, what I would have guessed was a dolls shop, but it was an archery shop. I stopped and wondered if I should approach, but I didn't have to. She turned around and saw me her pretty face shocked to see an older boy like me in the state I was in. she ran towards me leaving her umbrella behind revealing the length of her long flowing auburn hair. she stopped about a metre away from me and, I swear she was checking me out. I coughed politely and she seemed to get it and snap out of it.

"I'm sorry to trouble you, but I have no money and no spare clothes, would you know anywhere I could stay the night and dry off" I ask trying to stay polite, "and food." I add quickly

"You're not from 'round here ar ye?" she asks back with a cute Scottish accent. and before I could answer she grabs my arm and we're running, running into the streets of the city, I cry out in surprise and she stoops down and grabs the umbrella as we run past it, a few blocks away she stops in front of a town house, lets me go and starts walking in the gate.

"what was that all about?!" I cry, not trying to sound so distressed.

she turns to me and shrugs her small shoulders, looking a bit embarrassed.

"I'm always running, like something's chasing me, it just looked like someone was chasing you. I know it sounds weird, I'm sorry" she continues to walk up to the door, when she reaches it she knocks, looks over her shoulder to me and beckons me to come.

As I walk to the door closing the gate behind me, I wonder how much she has been through, so young, and to think like me, why is she running? what is she running from?

Only one way to find out. but after a warm bath.
