7. A Conversation In A Car

Okay, in case you haven't already learned this life lesson, here's something to keep in mind for the rest of your life: don't have a heart to heart with your daughter's father in a car. Because ten out of twelve times that the conversation will end with voices being raised then the windows will fog up and everyone will think that you're having sex instead of the two of you bickering like an old married couple. That's kind of what ended up happening to me.

"So, you chose him." he declares in the plainest tone that I have ever heard him use. I kink my eyebrow at his choice of words then say,"I have no idea what the actual hell you're talking about but hey, that's okay because you're so going to explain."

"You're going back to him! Don't lie to me, Aviana! I'm not stupid! There was never another thought about who you was going to go back to, was there!? I should've known!" he shouts and I groan softly when I realize what he was rambling on about then exclaim, "In case you hadn't noticed, I'm not dating anybody and I haven't chose anybody! Hell, I didn't even know there was a multiple choice question that included fighting between you two was even real!"

"You're kidding, right?" he asks, so deathly calm I was a little afraid of the storm waiting under the exterior. I gulp and nod as my hand creeps towards the door handle then answer, "Of course not. He kissed me and I kissed him back and we ended up being naked. But I-I didn't have sex with him."

"But if we didn't open that door, you sure as hell would've. And to think, your kids was across the hall from you." Jackson spits, obviously losing his hold on his temper.

"Last I checked, I was a grown ass adult, not a child to be scolded, Avery! Now, I'm going back inside, I'm going to finish unpacking then I'm going to make lunch for my friends and daughters. And if you even think about trying to stop me, just know that I've picked up ways to break hands so bad that even the best ortho surgeon isn't going to be able to fix it."

He opens his mouth to reply so in return, I crack my knuckles as a warning then hop out of the car. Meredith and Cristina is sitting on the steps, watching the door like concerned parents so I roll my eyes and ask, "What sounds good for lunch, mom and mom?"

"Ooh, grilled cheese!"Miska chirps with Mariah standing right behind her sister. I chuckle then shake my head and ask, "Is that okay with these two?" Meredith hops up then exclaims, "Hell yeah it's okay! Your mom makes the best grilled cheese. Let's go grab everything from the fridge, okay?"

The girls cheer and Meredith picks up the two of them then carries them into the kitchen, leaving me alone with Cristina who ends up giving me her classic, "You done gone and messed up."look. I sigh and claim the space beside me then mutter,"Don't look at me like that. It's not okay."

"Um, duh it's not okay. Dude, you've got Alex and Jackson vying for your attention and you're just... I don't even know what the hell you're doing, okay? Hell, I don't even think you know what you're doing." she states, turning to look at me. I sigh and shake my head then declare,"I don't.. I really have no idea what the hell I'm doing here. The only think I do know, is that those girls in there is the only reason why I'm in Seattle still. I don't even think I'm here for myself."

"Well, I'm so freaking glad that you've got your priorities straightened out," Alex snaps as he appears at the top of the steps. I sigh and stand up then exclaim, "You know what, just screw off. Okay, just back the hell off of me. Jesus!"

I enter the kitchen and notice that Meredith is trying her hardest to keep the girls distracted from my screaming then I smile shyly and ask,"Who's ready for some grilled cheese!" Cheers erupt from the twins and it makes my grin grow before I start the stove and begin cooking the sandwiches in silence, slightly ignoring the giggles shared between my best friend and daughters.

"So, uh, did you talk to Cranky Pants?" Peyton asks the next morning, wrapping an arm around my waist. I chuckle wryly and mutter,"Which one? At the moment, I know of three Cranky Pants: Karev, Avery, and Bailey."

"Watch your mouth, Parker, before I make sure that you stuck in the Pit for the next two weeks." Bailey warns, glaring at me. I lick my lips then raise my eyebrows and reply,"Uh huh, don't threaten me with  a good time, Bailey."

"Cheeky. Get back to work, you two." she warns before walking away. I turn back to Peyton and ask,"Now, which Cranky Pants was you referring to?"

"Sloan. He's in a really bad mood and he is apparently on the hunt for you, my friend." I raise my eyebrows and cross my arms then ask,"Oh really? Well, I'll go ahead and meet him halfway. I just love when my exes on an anger spree and I'm on the receiving end."

"That's bloody wonderful because I think I see my idiot half brotha and your stupid ex heading this way. Ta ta." she declares before skipping off into a exam room.

I throw my hands up and turn just as Mark slams me into a wall, hand placed on my chest to keep me pinned, before he growls,"You broke him. You broke the best intern I have, dammit!"

"What the hell do you want me to do? It's not like I meant to!" I gasp, shoving at his shoulders to push him away but he was not budging. He  leans in close, to where our noses brushed, then he orders,"Do it or I will ruin you, Annie."

"Screw you! I'm so tired of being told what to do,alright? It's not happening! You people just need to have your heads checked because never, in my life, not since you and me, have I let anyone tell me what to do." I snap, still fighting his hold.

"Maybe you should start listening again then, because your attitude is getting way out of control." he snarls, fist clenching in my scrub top.

"Mark?" a soft voice asks. Our heads snaps up to stare at a pretty brunette, who, if I tilt my head some, looks a little like Meredith in the face.

"Lex." Mark states, voice a little desperate as he releases me from his hold.

I fall forward and catch myself before I watch as "Lex" races away, tears possibly streaming down her face as Mark follows her.

So, I'm gonna be more free now so I'm hoping to update a lot more. So yay!
