"I think i'm here, I'm guessing the new place you live at is this creepy warehouse I'm looking at?" I asked Derek through the phone. After my little breakdown over the alphas, we both agreed that we should stick close together. I am not officially a member of Derek's pack. It's weird to think that I am even part of a pack but there has been some pros. Such as, I feet myself become stronger and all my senses heightened after just a couple days of being in a pack. I was moving all my stuff from my old apartment in and this would be the first time seeing this so called 'loft'.
"It's a loft, and yes just come up the elevator, don't worry about your stuff we will get it later" Derek told me.
"Okay be there in a sec" I said and hung up the phone. As soon as a walked into the building itself I already knew it was abandoned. I knew there had to be stray animals in here due to the shit I saw in the corner. I am sure they got scared off in the presence of werewolves. I looked in the far right corner and saw the so called 'elevator' Derek was talking about. Next to it I saw the not so dangerous looking stairs. Choosing my life, I chose to take the stairs. Three flights later I made it to a giant brown steel door. Out of breath I opened the damn thing, which by the way, isn't easy. I was surprised by how nice it looked. Right away I noticed the giant window that towered over the town and the bed that was next to it. Derek even had a couch and a end table.
"Nice digs" I said walking down the three steps. I looked over at Derek who had on one of his white tee's and looked all sweaty. Maybe he just got done working out. Then I saw the brick wall with a giant hole in it. "Why are you punching the wall?" I asked him.
"I'm making more room, I was hoping you could help" Derek said punching the wall again knocked three bricks out of their place.
"You want me to help you punch a wall?" I asked.
"Yep" Derek said.
"I'm down" I said walking over next to him. Derek faced me and waiting to see how I was going to do it. "Do I just, punch it?" Derek formed somewhat of a smirk on his face seeing as I have never used my werewolf strength for something other than fighting the kanima.
"All you do is punch it" Derek said.
"Well okay then" I said and made a fist. I used all my focus on the strength I needed to punch this wall, closing my eyes I went for it. When I opened my eyes I saw that I managed to knock out more bricks. I didn't even feel anything. I did it again this time with my eyes open. I was staring at my work in shock and pride. I turned and looked at Derek mouth open and smiling.
"I just freaking punched a hole in the wall" I told him.
"You did" He said smirking back at me. Derek is all broody and no smiles but I get him to crack sometimes. In fact I will make it a daily goal. Get him to at least smile or laugh once a day. I looked back at the wall and did a couple of kicks to knock out more bricks. Derek joined me on the other side. After just a couple minutes we stepped back to look at our masterpiece.
"We should do this for a living" I said jokingly
"You wouldn't be able to live then" I heard a familiar voice say. I voice I'm not so fond of. Peter Hale. I quickly turned around and saw him standing there in his stupid V neck.
"What the hell are you doing here" I asked him.
"Seeing my nephews new place" He said simply.
"Just because you're back from the dead doesn't mean you're welcome to be anywhere near this place or 20 feet of distance of wither me or Derek, or anyone" I told him.
"You aren't being very nice" Peter said.
"I'm not trying to be" I shot back. Who the hell does he think he is.
"It's fine Haley, I don't like him either but he still has knowledge we can use in the future. Best we can do is at least be on good terms with him" Derek said.
"I don't like you, in fact I hate you and pulling you out of that fire was the stupidest thing I have ever done in my life" I told him.
"Point taken" Peter said. I looked up at Derek and saw he had a 'really' look on his face but I just ignored him.
"Oh, and if you ever try and hurt anyone I care about, I will kill you myself" I said and turned around and walked out to get some of my stuff. I wasn't walking for two seconds until Derek was walking next to me.
"He's not staying here too is he?" I asked.
"No he has his own apartment" Derek said.
"You don't trust him do you?" I asked hoping the answer would be no.
"No, I only trust one person" Derek said.
"Who is that?" I asked.
"You" He said. I stopped what I was doing and turned and looked at him. He stopped walking also as soon as I did so.
"Just me?" I asked "Why?"
"Every time I don't do what you tell me to do something bad always happens. I've learned from my mistakes. Mistake one is pushing you away to protect you" Derek told me.
"What did you learn from that?" I asked him
"That the best way to protect you, is for you to be by my side" Derek said.
"Who says I need to be protected. I am a werewolf now. You need to be protected also" I said. Derek walked closer to me and we both started walking back to my car.
"We'll protect each other" Derek said. Those words are seared into my brain now. I realize that I was care for no other the way I care for Derek. We have been through too much to just not care for one another. This is Derek Hale. My first love and the person I trust with my life. If anyone tries to hurt him they are going to have to go through me first.
