I wake up to Belle knocking on my bedroom door. She comes in and tells me breakfast is ready. I drag my self down the stairs and eat some of the bagels my mom set out for me. Today is the day that I go on that "date" with Jason. How exciting.

My parents don't know about the date yet. My mom and I are very close together. I tell her everything, but I don't think I should tell her until a few hours before the date. Before I can think any more of this, my sister decides to tell her instead. "How do you even know about that, Belle?" I ask her with annoyance in my tone. "I overheard you and Zoe talking. Zoe's a loud person, remember?" she giggles. That's true. But I don't like the fact that she eavesdropped on us. "Honey, when were you going to tell your dad and I? Who is this kid anyway? Does he do drugs? Should I get him to pee in a-" I cut my mom off before she can even finish that sentence. "Mom. His name is Jason Smith. He's the star quarterback. I don't even want to go on this date anyways. I didn't tell you because I thought it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm only going out with him because he solved one of my riddles, and you know that I stay true to my word." my Dad comes into the kitchen as if right on cue and pours out a cup of coffee for him self.

My mom and Belle decide to fill him in as if I'm not sitting right here in front of them. "I know Smith. I work with his dad, Liam Smith. He's a good kid. As long as he has you back by 11, I'm okay with it if your mom's okay with it." My mom agrees with him and then sends me upstairs to finish my chores before I start to get ready.

It takes me a while to finish my chores so I finish it in perfect timing of when I intended to start getting ready. After I shower and blow dry my hair, I go and pick out my clothes. I decide on something that sort of looks like I tried, but also something that looks like I don't care about tonight.

He shows up at the exact time he said he would pick me up. I open the door and there he is. Jason Smith. I'm not ready for tonight. "You look beautiful." he says as he looks me up and down. "Mhmm." I say as I take the flowers he was holding out to me. "Thanks for the effort, but I don't like red roses. Too typical." I leave them on the table inside that's right next to my door. "Now, where are we headed." I see his eyes light up when I say this. He looks proud about what he's about to say next. "We are going to go to an arcade." he unlocks the door and opens it for me. "Sounds cool." I slide inside his car and then he shuts it. An arcade? I wonder how many girls he's taken to the arcade for their first date.

When we arrive at the arcade it's not just any arcade. It's the arcade. It's called Extreme Arcading. There's indoor skydiving, indoor surfing, a huge game room, an all you can eat buffet, and ton of prizes worth more than my soul. I've been wanting to go all month since it opened. I try not to sound or look excited when we enter the building, but I can't help but run to the game room. He follows me and chuckles a little. The first game we play is Guitar Hero. I beat him at every song we play. He looks a little sad so being the nice person I am, I let him beat me the last time we play. "BOOM! You just got schooled by Jason Smith!" I laugh a little at his little victory dance he does, but then quickly stop my self. The goal tonight is to not fall for Jason's traps.

After we play a few games we head toward the buffet. I eat five slices of pepperoni and pineapple pizza, and then eat some brownies for desert. "Wow Martin. You're not like the other girls I've been on dates with. All they eat are boring salads. But you, no." he gives me a little smirk and I finish eating my brownies. "I have a black hole in my stomach, so I can eat anything without gaining weight. It's just one of my fine qualities." I give him a little smirk and then I notice him looking at a spot on my face. "You have something on your cheek, Martin." I quickly pick up my phone and use that as a mirror to check out my face. I wipe off the piece of chocolate on my chin with a napkin and then put it on my tray. "Thanks." I say nervously.

After we eat, we decide it's time to cash out our tickets we won at the games we played. We have enough to get teddy bears, a crocodile, candy, and a guitar. He chooses the crocodile for me. "I hope I didn't choose anything too typical." he says with a smirk on his face. I wish I could wipe that smirk right off his face. "It's actually the opposite. You're catching along. Keep it up and maybe I'll consider going on a second date with you." I laugh. He looks a little hopeful and it makes my heart do this weird thing. No. No Savannah, you will not do this. Stick to your guns. Do not fall for Jason.

After we leave the arcade, we drive back home. "I had an okay time tonight. You didn't completely bore me." I say with a small smile on my face. "I really do hope you had a good time tonight. You're not like the other girls, Martin. You're interesting." he looks at me to make sure I was listening to what he said. I heard all right. When he looks at me I get this tingle in my fingers. I don't want to get my heart broken. Not by him. "I know how you work Jason. You date at least 50 girls each semester. I bet you took Tiffany Stephens to the arcade, played some games with her, won her a stuffed animal, and told her that exact same speech. I bet you took every girl you've ever dated to an arcade and did the same exact thing you did tonight. I know how guys like you are, and I really don't want to get my heart played by a guy like you.". After I see the hurt in his eyes, he says, "Savannah, none of the girls that I've dated would've ever stepped foot into an arcade. They'd complain about all of the germs and how it's so crowded. You're the first girl I've ever taken to an arcade because I know you're different."

He walks me up to the door and we just stand there, unsure of what to say. All of a sudden, our faces are getting closer and closer. Then the sprinklers come on and make us jump back. I run inside before he can say anything and shut the door. What just happened?...
