Promise

*ONE MONTH LATER*

~Julias POV~

Today it has been exactly a month sense our first date. The month has been filled with movies, bowling, amazing dinners, snowboarding over the weekends, trips to Denver, and for once in my life I'm truly happy. Every other weekend I'm at his house. My mom still has yet to know about us. Me and him have planned to tell her tonight. I have made sure she will be home. 

After school he's coming over and were cooking dinner and setting up the dinning room  table. He said he has something for me. As of right now its a Friday, I'm sitting in reach, and I'm incredibly anxious for tonight. when the bell rings, I'm to lost in thought to notice. I'm thinking about all of the outcomes for tonight. He comes into my class and says, "Hey, babe, are you ok?"

"Oh what?"

"I asked if your ok?"

"Ya just nervous for tonight."

"Don't be it will work out. What could happen?"

"Well she could kick me out. Reject our relationship.Force me to dump you. never speak to me again"

"Well a good outcome is she will be happy for us, forgive you and move on. Don't worry. Here i have something for you maybe it will make you feel better."

He pulls out a ring box and says, "I'm not purposing to you, but this is a promise ring. I know its only been a month, but I promise I will be by your side. I promise I wont hurt you. I have no idea were are relationship is going. I promise that our small or large infinity will be amazing. I'm glad your mine."

He opens the box he got me a beautiful traditional diamond promise ring. "Oh my god its beautiful. Thank you so much! You are the best boyfriend ever! I cant be any happier."

He smiles and says, "Go on put it on."

I grab it, put it on my ring finger and it fits perfectly! We are still awkwardly in my reach class.

My teachers interjects and says, "Ok well this adorable, but I need to go home. So bye!"

"Alright bye Ms. Byrd!"

He takes my hand and we go outside. He asks, "Feeling better about tonight?"

"Yes."

When we get my house we make dinner. My moms favorite is lasagna and favorite dessert is chocolate cake. Me being stubborn, we have to make everything fresh. As were cooking and baking, he decides lets have a flour war. We end making a huge flour mess. I try not to stress about it. We first put the lasagna in the oven. When its cooking we clean the mess and do the dishes. The dishes came with a water war. We cleaned that mess up then we set up the table.

After we set the table I run to my room and put on something nice. Then I admire my ring. Then he calls for me because apparently pulling the lasagna out of the oven is impossible. We then put the cake batter in the oven. In that moment my mom walks through the door.

with her back turned to me she says, "Hey sweetie, how was your day?"

"It was good."

She then turns and sees him, "Who is he? Why is he here?"

"Ummm well this my boyfriend." 

"Wait what?"

He steps forward reaches for her hand, and says, "Hi my name is Cameron."

"Hi my name is Lisa."

She turns and looks at me, "Seriously is this a joke?"

"No, mom we have been dating for a month. Today is our anniversary, that's why we decided to tell you today."

"When you first started dating him it would have been more appropriate to tell me then."

"Please lets sit and eat and talk about it."

We get food and sit down. She looks at him and says, "Was it your plan to wait to tell me?"

"No she choose not to tell you. I tried to get her to. I helped her plan this dinner,"

"Oh so you rat her out. Why do you like her?"

"Ummm well I've had a hard life and she brings me the joy in life. I feel happy and different around her."

She looks at me and says, " this boy is playing you. Why did you not tell me?"

"Because I knew you wouldn't approve and pulse your always busy. He make me happy"

"Wow, you actually believe his crap?"

"Ma, its not crap. Hes been changing for me. His grades have gone up, he started to hang out with new people. We are opposites, but we work."

"Ya I have heard that before. You know he will break you heart? And then go back to his old ways"

He looks at her and says, "Why cant you be happy for us? I really like her. I don't know what i would do with out her."

"Well if you weren't with her then you would continue being a player, am i right?"

"I dont know Ive tought about it. Maybe I would or maybe fate would bring us together in the future."

She laughs a dry laugh and says, "Fate? What crap."

Next thing I knew I was crying. I look at him and ask, "Can we leave?"

My mom asks, "Where are you going?"

"His house because your to stubborn and to hurt to be happy for me. Yes I know I'm only in high school, but I wont deal with your hurtful words. Especially considering the fact you have barley been there for me."

I run to my room, she follows. "Your acting irrational. I've been with a guy like him. All they do is play you and hurt. you"

As i pack clothes i say, "I'm not like you. Let go of the past. Can you do that for me? Can you?"

"No because I'm your mother and you should listen to me and my past has nothing to do with me not aproving."

"Bullshit. I'm old enough to make my own decisions. I don't care if you call the cops, but I'm leaving."

"No you cant."

I brush past her, "Once you accept me and him I will come back. Until then I will be with him."

We walk out the door, with my mom calling after me. I get in his truck with tears streaming down my face.
