Chapter Eight- “What is imprinting?”
Ashlee left around 8:00 at night, staying for dinner. Paul and Jake were the only ones left. I was currently sitting on Jakes lap watching him and Paul playing some game on the x box. Jake and I have become really close and I love it, he is so amazing. He is kind, thoughtful, and friendly. He is just the perfect guy. I have to admit, if you can’t already tell, I have really strong feelings for him. Seth came running in just missing her,
“Where’s Ashlee?” he asked, his head jolting around in hopes to find her,
“Uh you just missed her” Jake said, I walked over to him,
“Aw does little Seth have a crush” I cooed already knowing the answer, Jake came over to him and squeezed his cheeks earning a hit from Seth,
“Shut up” he said blushing a bright red,
“He doesn’t only like her he imprinted on her!” Paul said from the couch,
“What? What’s imprinting?” I asked looking around; no one was looking at me.
“Guys what’s imprinting?” I asked again,
“I’ll tell her” Jake said grabbing my hand and dragging me outside. We kept walking down towards the beach, the whole way we were silent which was odd because Jake was never a quiet one.
“Okay” he started, I could sense he was nervous which made me even more confused and concerned.
“Imprinting is how we wolves find our soul mates. It’s like the universe telling us, they are the one. You become so involved with them, as if you are bound. It’s like you can feel what they are feeling, you feel as if your hearts are beating as one. It is like nothing else matters on this earth except them.” He speaks, his eyes not leaving mine. The passion he said this with was so hypnotizing, I could fall into his arms right then. The gap between us was nearly invisible. I broke his gaze. We had now reached the beach and were standing on the waters edge. I looked down,
“Have you?” I asked hoping he knew what I was talking about, he nodded. It was like my heart had shattered. I felt tears prickling my eyes and I started to run back. My heart ached. I felt so stupid, all this time there was someone else and I didn’t know. I was so blind, so naïve. The tears were now pouring, I could hear him calling my name but I kept running.
*JAKE’S POINT OF VIEW*
“Have you?” she asked softly, starting to look up at me. I nodded hoping she would get what I was entailing. Instead she ran off. My heart felt as if a million knives what scraping down it. She ran, I felt so rejected. Did she not like me? Wait. Maybe she didn’t understand.
“Aria” I yelled out starting to run after her, she has become fast,
“Aria please” she didn’t stop running, lucky for me being a wolf I managed to catch up to her in no time at all.
“Aria please just listen” I said holding onto her arm,
“No, I feel like an idiot Jacob” that was the first time she used my full name,
“I thought you liked me but instead all this time you had another girl and you imprinted on her! How could you! You played me!” she whispered but it felt like she was yelling, the tears streaming down her face broke me,
‘No aria you don’t understand” I spoke grabbing her chin and lifting it up so she was looking at me, “ I imprinted on you”
*ARIA’S POINT OF VIEW*
“I imprinted on you” he spoke carefully looking into my eyes, my heart stopped. He imprinted on me? I was so happy, all the pain from the past couple of months had just washed away. I felt content. He not only liked me. He chose me. He imprinted…on me.
“You did?” I asked with a whisper, a smile creeping up on my face which soon spread to his.
“I did” he said wiping away the stray tears on my face. He came closer, resting one hand on the small of my back, pulling me and closing the gap between us,
“I love you” he spoke before moving his head down and connecting his lips with mine. His lips were so soft and warm, and his body heat just made this moment even more perfect. Wait…did he just tell me he loved me? I broke away, he looked confused,
“I love you too” I said earning a giggle from him which I copied,
“Come on, Sam would kill me for having you out this late” he said quickly kissing me again and wrapping his hands up with mine.
“Oh wait I forgot to ask” he stopped suddenly, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer once again, “Will you be with me?” he asked looking into my eyes searching for an answer,
“Hmmm no sorry” I simply said, disconnecting myself from him and walking in the direction of my home,
“Wait what?” Jake yelled out to me jogging to catch up,
“ I said no, please leave me alone” I spoke, he stopped right in front of me making me stop,
“are you serious?” he asked anger creeping up in his voice, I couldn’t help but burst out in laughter. He looked so confused as to why I was laughing. I went onto my tip toes and kissed him passionately,
“Of course I will be with you” I said, he grew the biggest smile on his face and kissed me back twice as passionately.

“Where have you guys been?!” Sam’s deep voice bellowed from the front of his house,
“Sorry it took Jake a while to explain to me what imprinting was” I said making up that lie on the spot, Jake just nodded but I could see his hidden smile,
Sam just nodded before going back inside,
“So Seth imprinted on Ashlee?” I asked Jake not getting the chance too before,
“Yes he has it big time” Jake said with a huge smile,
“Do you have it big time?” I asked,
“Hmm not really” Jake shrugged starting to walk off,
“What?” I said slapping his arm; he turned around with a cheeky smile,
“Hey that’s pay back from before” he said embracing me in a hug.
“Good” I breathed into his neck.
“Care to explain?” Emily said from the kitchen counter, I hadn’t even noticed that she was standing there.
“Oh hey Emily” I said with a big smile on my face. I swear nothing could ruin my mood right now.
“Care to explain?” she said again with pursed lips but I could see she was fighting a smile,
“Uh Emily, Jake and I are sort of together” I Said smiling and looking up at Jake then back to Emily. She was sitting there then suddenly she squealed and ran over to us embracing us in a huge hug.
“Finally Jacob!” she said hitting his arm,
“Sorry” he said giggling,
“What should we tell Sam?” I whispered to Emily,
“Don’t worry, he already gave Jacob his blessings” Emily said,
“What when?” I asked,
“Oh uh I imprinted on you when I first saw you, remember how Sam and I were arguing outside? Yeah we sort of settled it then” Jake said looking down, “then before you asked about imprinting and were with Ashlee I asked him for his blessing” he said with a smile,
I didn’t even care that I didn’t know about this, I was just too happy right now.
“Well at least that’s one thing we don’t have to worry about” was all I said pecking Jake on the cheek,
“You remember what I said” Sam said, he was massive but he moved quietly. Jake gulped and nodded quickly.
Seth and paul came into the room, god knows why they were still here.
“So when is Ashlee coming back over?” Seth eagerly asked.
“Hmm never” I said abruptly his face dropped and I started walking over to the couch with Jake. My face was dead serious. He was so easy to mess with.
