The road back to London was a cloudy one just as the road to heaven is through the earth. Lilly had found this out the hard way.
Upon her journey back she had come across many minor setbacks which had delayed her arrival time by a month. At some point she had gotten robbed by a man in a red hat. At another instance the train broke down. It was one misfortune after another for Lilly, one stop after another, yet she pursued her destination like a bullet pursued its target.
When she finally arrived, the town was still set as fall. No spring leaves had grown on the lifeless branch which sprung from the heart of London. Although the flowers had not yet bloomed, the people were lively and rushed with busy lives.
She made her way through busy streets of carriages and markets, the shouting was a spring in itself. Soon enough she was at the door of the newly renovated Time Fix, giving a slight knock.
Not a soul spoke in return of the voice of her fist. So she knocked once more.
When silence came in reply once again she twisted the unlocked handle and stepped inside. The air was musty with the scent of new paint. Spare parts were organized into drawers and clocks were straightened into rows on the walls. Not a tool was out of place.
She followed up the stone steps to what used to be Wesley's bedroom and found that it was empty. It had been renovated and turned into a guest room.
She then went back downstairs to check the backroom. This room was dimly lit and the visuals of square shadows and ticks were hard to see.
"Wesley Copper?" She called out. A low cry was heard from behind a wall of boxes and shelves. She pushed her way through a small crevice between the shelves of his fathers belongings and found herself in an awkwardly shaped clearing.
Wesley's upper body was hidden under a metal heap while his legs stuck out, slightly bent.
"Wesley?" She mumbled quietly and kneeled down to touch his knee. His body jerked and his head swung up with a loud bang of metal and the sound of a tool clattering to the floor followed soon behind.
"Wesley!!" She screamed and pulled him out from under the contraption. He was out cold. He was beautiful.
She ran her hands over the soft waves of hair that fell from his head and the dirty oil-stained skin that covered his jaw. His hair was lighter than before and now of amber tone. His eyes and feathered lashes were shielded by glass. She stared in disbelief, her young love had grown into a man.
Once she snapped out of her amazement she managed to drag him into his family room and laid him on the couch.
When he awoke he was left with the red imprint of ice and metal on his forehead, his glasses were neatly folded and placed on his chest.
"Oh good, you're awake, Mr. Copper."
He stared at the blur of red fabric and golden waves with grey, colorless, eyes.
"Who might you be?" He said picking up his spectacles.
"Lilly.." she mumbled.
"Lilly..oh! Lilly! You weren't supposed to come until April!" He placed the glass shields upon his nose and took a good look at her.
"Oh Lilly.." he held his head, jaw dropped in awe of the way in which her body had grown.
"It is May." She huffed and crossed her arms. "Quite a few mishaps occurred which delayed my arrival."
