Exposure - Rose and Rosie

Chapter one

I sit in my class staring out the window, there is nothing I hate more than philosophy. No actually that's a lie, I think I hate my teacher more.

"Rosanne, is something more interesting outside?" He questions.

I ignore him and continue to stare.

He snaps his fingers, "Miss Dix, have we lost you?"

I turn to attention, "No sir, sorry sir."

James McCarther laughs and mockingly repeats, 'No sir, sorry sir.'

My teacher continues with his boring class. I don't know how Laura did this subject at Cambridge. It's so dull.

My teacher sits at his desk, "Test tomorrow children, talk amongst yourselves for the last 20 minutes."

A few girls whisper and giggle at the back of the class, I turn to see what is causing the hilarity. Olivia Colton, smiles at me,
"Have you seen this Rose?" She passes me her flip phone which displays an image of a semi naked girl a few years below us.

Olivia continues,
"Do you not think it's just disgusting she's like 15, it's disgraceful, don't you think?"

I give a very half hearted smile.

Katherine Small, Olivia's minion, interjects, "I heard she has sex at lunch time - with that big 6th form guy. "

James Leans in, " And you believe that, do you Kat?"

Katherine blanks James and continues to address me and Olivia.

"I even heard Katy say she dates girls."

James rolls his eyes and turns away, usually I would do the same, but this has peaked my interest.

Olivia laughs, "I thought you just said she bangs a sixth form guy?"

"Yeah but she does like both, I think." Katherine justifies.

Olivia squints, "What's her name again?"

Katherine turns to me, " Ironically enough, Rosanne."

The bell rings and I collect my things.

James comes up to me, "So I'm having a little party tonight - my parents are at some retreat up north... You should come."

"A party?" I ask.

James awkwardly looks at me, "mhm. Unless that's not cool. We could just hang if you wanted some other night."

Is he asking me out?

"Em... yeah the party sounds good." I awkwardly retorts.

He smiles in relief, "Great, em... 7 o'clock"

"Hmm?"

"The party Rose, it starts at 7 o'clock, tonight."

"Oh right... Of coarse... I'll be there."

He smiles and we go in our opposite directions.
