The funeral was long and filled with so much sadness. After he was lowered into his resting place we said our goodbyes to the guest who were not family then made our way to the dinning hall. I mentally sighed. I was tired and wanted nothing more than to sleep. I did not and could not deal with my family right now but there was no way around it.
The whole family was here. Both my Aunts from my mother's side Aunt Carrie with her husband Christopher and Aunt Jennifer with her husband Peter. My Uncles on my dad's side Uncle Zero and his wife Ashley. Uncles Mathew and his wife Addenda and their Daughter Sapphire and her newly married husband Luther. Then there was Luc, Ethan, Nathan, Angel and Isabella then myself of course. My mother's family sat down on the right side of the table and my father's side sat on the left of the table then everyone else just filled in. Except for me my place was at the head of the table.
I mentally sighed and waited for the part of the dinner to begin. Everyone was silent and you could feel the tension in the air. I took a small sip of my wine and looked at everyone.
"It's good to see everyone's faces today." Ethan started.
"And it's amazing to know that everyone can come out and come together with a situation like this." Nathan finished.
Everyone nodded and the first meal was brought out.
"So Callidora." I heard Sapphire speak.
I looked over at her and took a sip of the wine.
"I heard about your little incident at the school." She smirked.
I smirked first jape of the night.
"And I heard about you and Luther sleeping in separate beds." I spoke.
Her face went white as snow.
"No, we're not!" she quickly defended.
"Cali-" Nathan whispered.
"You promised." Ethan spoke.
"Fine."
"That's no way for a Queen to behave." My Aunt Ashley spoke.
"Then it is good that I am not a Queen yet is it not?"
She smiled then winked. She was so much like my mother.
"You will be Queen soon. That much is certain. If not surely one of your brothers will gladly take the thrown." My uncle Mathew spoke.
I looked over at him and caught his eyes.
"Of course I will take the thrown, although it will not be soon." I replied.
"What do you mean not soon? The people need a leader!"
"Surely we do not need to discuss that tonight after we just buried our father." Ethan spoke.
I tore my eyes away from Mathew and took a deep breath.
"We will discuss this the people needs a leader. Your father choose you so you will take the thrown."
"I will take the thrown," I took a bite out of my steak, "Just not now, when there is someone out there plotting to kill me." I responded.
"There will always be someone wanting to kill you."
"No one has ever gotten this close to actually killing one of us-"
"In thirteen years.." My auntie Ashley spoke.
She was speaking about my mother. Her sister. It was quite for a moment. Everyone knew how I felt about my mother. My mother was more than a mother she was my bestfriend the one person I could show my emotions to.
