The Tyrannosaurus rex roared terribly loud, spreading panic everywhere. Its scaly body was about 40 feet long and 20 feet tall and though its arms were tiny and nearly useless, its jaws were strong enough to crush any animal. The creature's solid, rigid tail was heavy and long in order to balance the massive head and torso and it had huge bipedal legs that gave it an ability to run at great speeds. The Tyrannosaurus rex had an enormous skull armed with razor-sharp teeth the size of bananas what made him a skilled and feared hunter; It was truly the king of the dinosaurs. All the other dinosaurs on the plain started to run and flee, trying to avoid ending up as a meal. There was suddenly chaos everywhere; the Gallimimus who ran too fast and fell, the youngsters who tried to keep up with their parents and the Triceratops who squealed, all seized by panic. "We need to get out of here," Kathryn said while she stared at the scene. "Now." The rebels turned around but froze immediately after, for another Tyrannosaurus rex had emerged from the trees. It had come from the forest on their side of the plain, probably to increase its chance of success by attacking its prey from both sides, together with a congener. It was coming towards them with great speed, trampling everything on its way. The amount of noise that it created was incredibly thunderous and distressing while it did, and it struck fear into the rebels' hearts. As the king of the dinosaurs started to move closer, Jack asked with panic in his voice: "What do we do now?!" "We go in there!" Victoria replied quickly after looking around and pointed at the hectic plain. "What?" Jack replied. "Are you mad?" "It's the only way!" Before Jack could argue with that, his brother had already dragged him with him towards the plain, following Victoria and Kathryn. The companions first had to run underneath the belly of a Diplodocus and avoid a herd of Gallimimus before hearing another roar, coming from behind them. As they looked back, they could see that the other Tyrannosaurus rex had reached the plain as well, roaring loudly. In the meantime, its congener had started to fight with an Ankylosaurus, a battle where the combatants were very well matched. Although the heavily armoured Ankylosaurus had a clubbed tail which could be capable of demolishing its opponent's shin bone, it also had an unprotected underbelly which could be very dangerous when the dinosaur would be flipped over. When the Ankylosaurus swung its tail and hit its adversary, the Tyrannosaurus bellowed in a mixture of pain and anger. The fight, however, still continued afterwards.
At a distance, the companions were running alongside the herd of Triceratops and a few Parasaurolophus and Stegosaur, away from the other Tyrannosaurus rex. After its mighty roar, which had caused even more uproar, it had looked around, searching for prey. When the dinosaur had eventually found it, the chase began. Victoria looked back again, only to find out that the thing she had feared the most had come true, for the terrifying creature was pursuing them. "Hurry!" she yelled as the dinosaur began to gain on the rebels. The ground shook with each thundering step it took and its roar sent a shiver up Victoria's spine, but she kept running. If they were able to reach the forest on the other side, there might be a chance to escape. The Ankylosaurus and the other Tyrannosaurus rex were still busy fighting each other, so that probably wouldn't be a problem. The real problem, however, would be to get rid of the enormous 20 feet tall man-eating dinosaur that was chasing them. "Where do we go?" Nathan asked desperately while running as fast as he could, again. "To the trees!" Victoria answered, doing the same. She looked back once more but realized immediately that it would have been better if she hadn't. The Tyrannosaurus rex was very close now, and it wouldn't have taken long for it to reach the companions if the herd of Triceratops hadn't dodged the other way, away from the trees. They had no other choice, for the hefty Ankylosaurus was rammed sideways by its opponent, and the spiky creature would have hit the herd if they hadn't dodged to the left. While one Tyrannosaurus rex rushed towards its vulnerable prey who was now laying on its back, the other's attention was drawn by the Triceratops herd. But when it realized that there were too many lethal horns to fight, the carnivore turned to the smaller rebels. They had almost reached the forest, but for now, they were still out in the open with a giant dinosaur chasing them. Luckily, they had run fast enough, and they were able to reach the trees in time. Still, the tyrant kept chasing them. Small trees and many bushes were knocked down by the massive dinosaur in order to create a path big enough for the creature to continue the pursuit, and it worked. Despite a small delay, it managed to keep up with the rebels who, as a matter of fact, were starting to grow weary. They could hear the sound of falling trees and massive footsteps coming from behind them, followed by an occasional bellow. Victoria could also hear Kathryn breathing heavily beside her, but she noticed that she was doing the same. She didn't know for how long they could keep running, but she knew that it wouldn't be long. And after hearing another terrifying bellow, she looked around, searching for a way out, but couldn't find one. Victoria slowly started to lose hope and knew that her fellow exiles felt the same, but they kept running because they simply did not want to give up on something that was worth fighting for. But then, all of a sudden, Kathryn groaned and fell on the ground, creating a moment their pursuer had been waiting for. The Tyrannosaurus rex was gaining on them, and it wouldn't take long for it to reach them. "Kathryn!" Victoria shouted and swiftly turned around. She rushed towards her friend, who lay on the ground, groaning in pain. "My leg," she said while catching her breath, "it hasn't fully healed yet after that grenade in D.C." "Kathryn," Victoria said anxiously, "you have to stand!" "I can't!" her friend replied. "Just go!" When Victoria had realized that they were out of time, she grabbed Kathryn's arm and put it around her neck. They were stumbling forwards when Jack and Nathan hurried towards them as well, trying to help. As Kathryn leaned on their shoulders, she looked back, only to see that the king of the dinosaurs had already reached them. The creature emerged behind them and stared at its prey with the most ferocious eyes they had ever seen. "Please go," Kathryn said weakly and fell on the ground once more; her injured leg had been seriously overloaded after the many running she had done. "No..." Victoria said when the dinosaur bared its razor-sharp teeth, ready to attack. It growled viciously, and the rebels could smell the stench of raw flesh on its humid breath while it did. Victoria went on her knees next to Kathryn and put her arms around her, waiting for the end. She closed her eyes when Jack and Nathan did the same. Jack covered Victoria, and Nathan Kathryn. The Tyrannosaurus rex opened its massive jaws, ensuring the end of the rebels. However, suddenly they could hear the sound of a laser beam, coming from the bushes, and before the dinosaur could act, it had already fallen onto the ground with a great thud. The thing that had hit the creature had been some sort of beam, a light pulse or a bolt if you like. When Victoria opened her eyes, she could see the gigantic Tyrannosaurus rex, laying before her, unconsciously. Her mouth dropped, together with the ones of her companions. They could not believe what just happened, but they were grateful that it did. "Finally," someone suddenly said. It caused confusion amongst the rebels, for it hadn't been one of them who had said it. They looked around, not sure what they were searching for. But then the bushes started to move and out of nowhere, a man appeared. "It's about damn time," he said.
