Annalise
"Annalise stay still for the love of God," Monica frustratingly sighed as she attempted to curl my hair.
"Well how can I when you are burning my neck with that wretched invention," I complained to her then bit my tongue to help numb the pain on my neck.
"Well your neck wouldn't be frying if you stayed in one spot Anna. I'm being a good best friend to help you on this date," she pouted as she let loose another curled brown lock of my hair. As Monica finished her sentence, I heard my apartment door slam shut.
"Who is going on a date?" my older and over protective brother, Cade demanded for an answer while he marched his large feet into my room.
Monica instantly started to blush. She has had a crush on my older brother since the beginning of time. With my brother being the ignorant guy he is, he hasn't ever had a clue that she has supposedly "loved" him since they first met back in eighth grade. Or what she claimed as love when she would shyly talk to him and turn beet red whenever he was around.
"Oh hey Cade," I lightly greeted to my now livid brother. I swear there was probably smoke coming out of his ears this time.
Indeed, I did say this time. My brother had a tendency to get angry at the slightest things. Honestly, I don't even know how I've managed to live with his temper but I'm a little used to it. Cade would usually go ballistic if my name and anything related to romance was in the same sentence.
I was sitting on my stool while Monica stood behind me and continued to curl my hair as Cade and I competed with our death stares. Silence overtook my small room that was everything but sweet.
"Annalise, who is this guy? Why are you going on a date? What's his name? His job? His personality-" Cade rambled as I cut him off.
"Cade I'm going to be fine. Calm down and relax for a moment," I attempted to soothe him with my relaxed voice.
When Cade didn't react for a moment, Monica took the moment as an opportunity to step in. "Hi Cade," Monica shyly greeted to him as well. "How is your- ouch goddamnit," she wailed while dropping the hot curling iron on my bed.
"Monica you burned yourself with the curling iron. Let me help you get something to relive the burn," Cade requested with caution. Before the both of them left through my door, Monica turned around and winked at me.
I secretly thanked my best friend while I hurriedly grabbed my things and ran to the door. A knock sounded on the door from who I inferred to be Dominic. I heard Monica trying to distract Cade from looking at the door as Dominic gave me a questioning look.
"Hey, you ready?" I asked him with a smile while I straightened out my black and white romper.
"Yeah let's go," he answered me with a questioning look from the background noise. Dominic gestured for me to go ahead of him like a gentleman. So began the night of our date, our first one.
************
"Are you serious," Dominic asked from across me while trying to contain his laughter.
"That's exactly what happened. My brother and my dad were so scared that my mom would find out that they both had ruined her expensive pair of shoes that they had to buy another pair," I confessed to him with a smile while hurting a tad from the memory. His blue eyes sparkled in the light and clashed royally with his bright smile.
"So let me get this straight, your brother and your dad had to walk around all over the city in stiletto heels because they lost a bet and ended up breaking your mom's shoes," he laughed loudly.
