i try to write love poems
i try to write about how you make me feel alive
and how i want you to be closer to me not only skin to skin
but heart to heart
i want to feel your heart against mine
the agony of it
the pain of being so open and so raw
i want our heartstrings to fuse together
but somehow those words always settle on my tongue
and fizz away
cotton candy confessions
sherbet laced sweet nothings
whispered to no one
because for some reason when i think of you
and when i think of love
the only association i can make is hurt
and i am so sorry
i am so sorry because you dont deserve to be loved by someone
who is still carrying the weight of the past on her shoulders
but i am trying to tell you that i want to change
and i will change
because you deserve more
and god damn it baby
i am not letting you go.
