This topic might be a bit uncomfortable to confront, but as WLW we have struggled and will continue to.
The fire that we have in our being is nothing to be ashamed of, it is something that we are proud to have. Although this is is something we are glad to have.. sometimes in order to burn bright, we would eventually need to face the shadows. So as we try to confront these shadows we struggle.
The definition of struggle is a conflict or a contest and in our lives, we have indeed experienced many things that have somehow made us stronger. For us, WLW we struggle with many things such as homophobia, bullying, family relationships and even loving ourselves. Even that might not be the end of what we struggle with but here is something that I know.
It has always been said that confronting the things that cause us pain will lead us to happiness. Now I know we hear that all the time, but what they didn't tell us was that the road to facing these things is NOT EASY. Confronting our shadows is not something that will happen over night.
No one expects you to forgive the individuals that hurt you.. the things that have happened in the past.. or what is even happening in the present. Forgiveness and confronting things that hurt us takes time. There is no need to rush to forgive or to confront. All that matters is that you will confront the shadows when YOU are ready. No one else.
Us WLW are born to stay true to ourselves, and if you are not ready to face anything such as coming out the closet, ignorance from strangers, friends or even family.. REMEMBER WE ARE MEANT TO BURN BRIGHT! Think of it as when you're trying to light a candle.. sometimes the wick needs another click of the lighter to make a flame.
So yes.. we have struggled and we are indeed still struggling but we will burn bright and leave others in awe.
So here is a violet for the WLW who have struggled and are still struggling.. we will get through this. :)
hmmmm it seems like violets and fire are sticking to me haha I LOVE YOU ALL!
