Chapter 21: A New Discovery

Over the next few weeks.  Hermione continued on with the show's schedule.  However, she had more on her plate to worry about.  She needed to find out what Lavender and Miranda were up to.  After the filming was done for the evening, Hermione managed to sneak out of her room.  The last time she had managed to eavesdrop on Miranda and Lavender, she knew that they planned on meeting tonight.  And she was going to find out what they were up to.

As Hermione rounded the corner down the hall, she ran into Draco.  She let out a small annoyed sigh.  Great.  Just what I need.  Draco gave a small smile as he approached her.  "I was just looking for you.  I was wondering if you had a little time to hang out a bit?"  He asked.  Hermione bit her lip.  "I'd really love to.  But I got a message from Miranda.  She needs to speak with me about some few last minute things before the show ends next week."  Draco raises his eye a little but nods.  "Oh.  Alright.  Perhaps tomorrow?"  Hermione nodded.  "Tomorrow..  Yes, tomorrow."  Draco watched her as she took off down the stairs.  Thinking her behavior seemed to be rather strange, he decided to follow her.

Hermione made her way downstairs and to the location where she knew Lavender and Miranda were meeting.  By the time she got there, and managed to get to a good hiding spot but close enough to hear the conversation, they had already started the meeting.  As Hermione listened to the two of them speaking, she became more and more furious, hearing what they had planned.  She didn't think Lavender would ever stoop that low.  Hermione glanced up as she saw the lights begin to flicker, and took her chance to reveal herself as Lavender and Miranda had stopped talking to notice the lights flicker as well.  "So..  You would really do that to Ron?  Does he know what you're up to?  Does he know that you're working with a snitch who's paying you loads of cash for all this nonsense?"  Hermione glared at Lavender, making the lights flicker a little faster.

Lavender took a few steps forward giving Hermione a glare back.  "How..  Dare you!  First, you come into our world..  And think that you're the best of the best.  You're nothing.  You're nothing but a mudblood.  Without your book smarts you would still be nothing.  And then second, you had to come in and steel my boyfriend."  Lavender said emphasizing the word my.  Hermione stared at Lavender dumbfounded before sending another slap across her face.  "You think I stole your boyfriend?"  Hermione let out a laugh.  But it didn't sound anything like her.  It almost sounded dark, and evil.  "Please.  Ron couldn't stand you.  He tried to run from you.  But you were too stupid to notice.  You can have him.  He doesn't do any good to me."

Lavender smirked.  "Because you've been chumming up with your enemy Draco?  Please.  He wouldn't even take a second look at you.  Or because you've been chumming up with Ron's best friend Harry?"  Hermione extended her hand to give Lavender a hard shove backwards, but instead, a blast of magic was released instead and Lavender went flying backwards and landed on top of the table before flopping down onto the ground.  Hermione looked stunned a moment, but then she smirked and advanced on Lavender.  Lavender looked up at Hermione in surprise.  Miranda stood in front of the two girls.  "Now now..  I am sure we can work on some kind of an arrangement that will work for all of us."  Miranda grinned.  "Do you really think that Draco will take a second look at you when he sees me?"  Lavender said.  Hermione's face turned pale.  That was their plan.  All this time Miranda thought I'd go for Ron, so she used Lavender to get me angry to go after Ron.  But now she knows I care for Draco.  And perhaps he maybe cares for me as well?  Hermione ignored Miranda and walked even closer to Lavender.  "I may have been many things.  But I would never use Ron like you have.  I may be many things.  But I am not a cheater and a scam artist like you are."  Hermione waved her hand making Lavender's body go skidding across the floor and heard a thump as her body hit hard against the wall.

"Hermione stop!"  Hermione whipped around to see Draco and she immediately calmed down looking confused a moment at what all happened.  "Draco.."  She muttered.  "I..."  Hermione slumped to the ground burying her face in her hands.  She was confused and wasn't sure what was going on.  Draco quickly rushed to her and knelt next to her wrapping his arms around her.  She let her head rest against his chest for comfort until she managed to stop crying.
