May walked into the school for the first day of her sophomore year. She knew the next few days would be all about Cheryl Blossom. May and Jason were far from close, but that didn't stop her from feeling sorrow. She wished she tried harder to talk to Jason, but at the same time she was glad she didn't surround herself with someone like him. Nevertheless, she planned to express her condolences to Cheryl the moment she saw her.

She went straight to her locker. May was pleased to have her locker in a more convenient spot than last year. This great placement came with a downfall. It was next to Reggie Mantle's. She agonized to herself silently on how this would affect her.

Luckily, May's locker was close to Jackie's. Jackie and May have been best friends since fourth grade. Add in May's twin brother and you have the infamous trio that many despise. It's not that the trio is rude or anything of the like. It's just that, when all 3 members are present, they tend to be quite loud. Some may even say obnoxious.

However, May is the exact opposite. She keeps to herself and, unless with close friends, doesn't speak until she is spoken too. She hates being rude, but she also hates small talk.

May starts to feel uneasy when she sees that the infamous Reggie has arrived. She quickly finishes organizes her locker and goes to Jackie's, glad to see her best friend. It's not that May had a problem with Reggie, she just doesn't like being around him. He was rude to essentially everyone and she didn't want any part of that.

As soon as Jackie realized that May had come up to her she gave her a hug immediately. Then, they checked each other's schedules trying to match classes. They finished in triumph, learning that they shared 4 out of 8 of their classes. Sadly, 1st period was not shared. Later on, May learned shared the class with the one and only, Reggie Mantle.

She trudged into the class, checking the board for her seat. May could already tell she wouldn't like this class. For one, the class had assigned seating and seating in groups. A few seconds later, she found exactly whom she would be sharing her table with. (AN: I also don't know if I used this right either lol) Valerie, Reggie Mantle, and Jughead Jones. These would be her new partners for the rest of the year, or until a student does something to make the teacher change the seating arrangment.

The first thing to happen after announces was an icebreaker. May sighed, ready to have nightmares about this for the next week at least. She hated icebreakers with a passion. No matter what she said, May felt like her peers were all judging her.

So as soon as the topic came up, May worked on the perfect answer. Luckily, this icebreaker only had to be shared with your group. The teacher gave instructions and set a timer for 7 minutes. Time for 7 minuted of misery.

Valerie was the first to speak up,
"Okay, who wants to go first?"
They all looked at each other in response.
"I vote for the Emo," Reggie replied with a smirk, clearly glad of the nickname he gave Jughead. May personalky didn't think of it as a great insult.

Jughead rolled his eyes, wishing to be anyway other than here." Fine, whatever. Don't really think we need introductions, so I'm just gonna do the summer thing she mentioned. I've been writing my book all summer. Someone else's turn." He gave a another eyeroll before finishing.

"Okay, Reggie you go." Valerie said, pinning this horrible excuse as social time on the boy May's left.

"Kay, I've been at the gym all summer. That's about it. January's turn." He insisted.

May was usually happy-go-lucky but this boy made her want to hurt him. She gave him an eyeroll, feeling inspired by Jughead.
"That's not my name." May mumbled, turning from him back to the group.

He responded with a shrug, obviously not caring.
"Umm, I didn't really do much this summer. My family traveled a little, but thats about it." May voiced.

"That's cool," Valerie observed. "I wish my family would travel. All I did was stay home and practice with Josie," the girl elaborated.

The class droned on, the next classes were the same: ice breaker, then syllabus, ice breaker, then syllabus.
Fortunately, there was an assembly. And who made an effort to sit directly next to her?

Not only Jackie, she was expected to sit next to May and have Brandon on her other side, it was the boy she had been seeing constantly. The unusual, Reggie Mantle.
