I let Gage hold me until we decided to go back home and tell my mum about Noah. I sniffled and slowly stood up, Gage getting up beside me.
"Come'n Cassie, let's go home and tell your mum and dad." Gage said softly.
"He's not my father, just a sperm donor. He will never be my father." I spat out.
"Alright I realise that you are mad at him for leaving you but let him explain." He tried reasoning with me.
"No I won't let him explain because he has no good reason." I said getting mad.
"He has a perfectly good reason. You just won't understand it. It's not my place to tell you either!" He said standing up straight.
"Well I'm not talking to him." I said stubbornly, acting like a little kid. Gage sighed and just led me home, gently pulling me there. When he opened the door everyone was scattered throughout the house. Eric was in the den and I could hear footsteps in the kitchen. I guessed that it was Aunt Veronica. I was pretty positive my eyes were red and puffy, I probably looked like a wreck. Eric looked up at us and took in my face.
"Cassie what's wrong? Why were you crying? Where's Noah?" He said. This caused me to cry again and Gage just rubbed my back soothingly. Eric got up and tried to give me a hug. Tried being the keyword there, Gage only let him go an arms length away from me. Eric just shook his head and muttered,
"Someone's overprotective of their mate." I was confused at that.
"Wha... what's a mate?" I asked stupidly.
"We're British don't you know that mates are friends?" Gage said trying to clear it up, although he sounded nervous. I shrugged it off and nodded sheepishly for forgetting that.
"Cassie you never told me why you were crying. So why were you and where is Noah?" Gage slapped Eric up the back of the head and Eric just glared at him. I took in a deep breath and got ready to explain.
"Can my mum and Aunt Veronica come here first?" I asked, not ready to explain.
"Sure," Gage turned towards the kitchen and called "mum, can you and Cassie's mum come here?" Two sets of footsteps came towards us and I heard a gasp, most likely my mum.
"Cassie, where is Noah? Why are you crying?" My mum said frantically. I took another deep breath.
"We were at the park and Noah was on the slide. Gage and I had been sitting on the bench talkin and watching Noah. We heard a scream and when I looked up some man in black had Noah in his arms and was carrying him off, muffling his screams. I was in shock and when I tried to get him I wasn't fast enough and the man got away." I said with a couple tears streaming down my face. I didn't want to mention the almost kiss in front of both of our mums.
"Cassie have you called the police yet?" Aunt Veronica asked.
"No not yet. I was going to do that after I told you." I told her.
"Well let me call them." She said and rushed to the phone. I stayed quiet while my mum hugged me. I heard more footsteps and two more people came into the room. Jake and an unfamilar man, well somewhat unfamiliar. I faintly recognized him and he looked a lot like Gage. It's his father! I though to myself. I saw Jake rush over to me but I moved away from him.
"Mariah what's wrong with Cassie? Where is Noah?" He asked demandingly. My mum just sniffled and shook her head. He got the message and shut his mouth.
"Cassie, what's wrong dear? I need to get all the information I can to help. I am one of the top detectives in the country." Gage's father said.
"Noah was on the slide at the park and Gage and I looked away for a second and when I heard a scream, I looked over and saw a guy in black taking Noah. I was in shock and wasn't able to understand the fact that someone was taking Noah. It took a couple of seconds but I got up and ran after them but they hopped in a van and got away. We then walked back here and here we are."
