Ella

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and Judy and I have been baking all day. I loved being in the kitchen, but today, I seemed tired. I kept feeling off. Judy seemed to notice. "Are you ok, Dear?" I smiled, "I don't know what's wrong with me." We kept up our cooking but by the time that evening came, I was sick. I sighed and called my doctor for an appointment, I kept it to myself and struggled through the next day. Thanksgiving was great, there was a ton of food and some people from the pack house would filter through, so we met a bunch of people, some of who were friends of Lynn and Connor.

The next day, my doctor squeezed me in, she is usually closed for the holiday, but since I am rarely sick, she wanted to see me. Told everyone that I was doing some Christmas shopping, which isn't a lie because when I'm done here, that's where I am going. She ran some tests and asked a ton of questions and when she came back, she was smiling at me, "You are pregnant, Ella. Congratulations." My jaw dropped. Pregnant. "I take it that this is a surprise?" I nodded. She patted my shoulder, "Don't worry, here is a great OB/GYN that will help you out." I thanked her and left in a daze. Christmas was in a month and I was having a shifter baby, how does that work? I needed to talk to Judy.

I drove home, not shopping, straight home and found Judy scrubbing the over. "Hello, Dear. You look like you have seen a ghost. What happened?" I flopped in the chair and sighed, "How do shifter pregnancies work?" She grinned, "I am not sure about humans carrying shifter babies, but the pack doctor sees this a lot and she is super nice. I will call her and ask her. You need to tell Adrik before he smells it and gets upset at you for not telling him." I nod. "Of course. I need to talk to him now, I guess. I just don't know what I am looking at here. I am on birth control." Judy laughed, "That doesn't work with shifters, I thought he knew that, but then again, you are his first human."

I thanked her and went in search of Adrik. I found him in the living room with Teddy, Matt, Connor, and Carter, watching Die Hard. "Um, I hate to bother you, Adrik, but can I talk to you a moment?" He hops up and plants Carter on Connor's lap before crossing the room to me, "What is it?" I pull him down the hall and into our room. "I'm pregnant. Judy is going to call the pack doctor." He blinked at me, just staring. I waved a hand in front of his face. "You in there, Adrik?" He shook his head, "You are pregnant?" I nodded and his face nearly split in half with a grin, He gathered me in his arms and spun me around. "We need to get married, now!" I want all the kids to have my last name, I want you to have my last name. DO you want the big white wedding?"

I shook my head, "I did that once and it wasn't worth it." He nodded, "Me too. Bobby is a lawyer friend of mine, we can go see him, he could marry us, change everyone's last names, all that jazz. Let's ask the kids, ok?" He carried me through the house calling a family meeting. When everyone was gathered in the living room, he set me down and spoke, "Ella is pregnant. We have decided to do a civil ceremony, I will call Bobby. Now, I would like for all of you to take my last name, but I want to leave it up to you. Lynn? Connor?" Lynn looked at Connor and grinned, "We already talked about it, and we would love to, Dad."

He grabbed the phone and called Bobby, who agreed to marry us in two days. We were all so happy. Teddy was crying, "I'm getting a little sister." I glared at him, "I'm older than you." He sniffed, "But I'm bigger than you, making you my little sister." Lynn handed him a tissue and then slapped the back of his head, much to Judy's approval. Matt hugged me, "Welcome to the family, Daughter." I sniffled a bit on that because my own parents never accepted me. I wondered if I should call them, but I looked at Connor and he shook his head. I agreed, they would just bring us down.

The next day was full of moving. We all packed up our apartment and moved into the new house. It had been painted and decorated over the last few days. That afternoon, I was visiting the pack doctor, Lulu. She was a wolf shifter and had delivered many half-breeds. "You will have a slightly shorter pregnancy, your baby will be slightly larger than a normal human baby, and he or she will be a shifter, that is a dominate gene. Don't worry, you are in good health. You should only be pregnant about six months, so prepare ahead of time. Since you are human, the last few weeks will be rough and you may be on bed rest, just due to the size of the baby." I thanked her and made my appointment for three weeks before leaving and heading to our new home. I was so happy, too happy because some asshole had to burst my bubble.
