RAIN DROPS FELL as Lavender and Finn continued to drive down the dark rode. A flashing neon light shined in the corner of Lavenders eyes. The words "Pops diner" lit up the sign.
"Im a little hungry, want to stop in for some fries" Finn smiled lightly and Lavenders eyes widened.
"Oh please" She quickly jumped out of the car and realized that water was still running down her yellow cardigan. She stepped through puddles and quickly started to the entrance. Finn trailed behind her getting his converse wet in the mean time.
The two kids stood in front of the door shivering from the cold. Finn opened the door and quickly the duo walked in. The heat from the room washed against them making the two feel warmer. The short waitress greeted the pair and quietly walked them to their booth. It was about 10 pm so not many people were in the restaurant.
"So a plate of fries and two milkshake will do?" Finn looked up at Lavender and she nodded.
"Surely" Lavender smiled as the busboy filled their tall glasses with cold water.
The two kids engaged in small talk occasionally playing footsie under the table. The slight action made Lavender and Finn feel love stricken.
"Sorry again about the pool incident" Finns looked down and Lavender.
"It's okay yea I was a little cold but I will live" The waiter came with their milkshakes and Lavender sipped on the red straw.
"Uh so Lavender tell me your favorite bands?" Finn held his cups with two hands and leaned his elbows on the table.
"Uh um well I don't know I can listen to anything but rap, what bout you?" Lavender made hand movements as she talked. She wasn't afraid to be herself around Finn.
"Uh you know Twin peaks, uh um Nirvana I guess. There's a bunch more" Finn looked up and thought of what else to say.
"Oh fun I should look into them" Lavender smiled at Finn while putting a fry in her mouth.
"Yea I got a cassette in the car if you wanna listen to my mixtape" Finn pushed his hair back.
"You got a mixtape?" Lavender chuckled.
"Yea" Finn looked at her in confusion.
"Aww that's cute" Finns face turned red and Lavender covered her mouth in embarrassment.
"Uh um so these fries are good" Lavender bowed her head down as she flustered her words. The two then laughed it off.

Lavender and Finn walked to the car. The rain had stopped a bit but little drops still fell from the windows. Finn and Lavender walked into the car and sat in silence.
"So how bout that mixtape Finn" Lavender broke the silence and Finn looked up to her. He pressed the play button and music started flowing out of the speakers. Elenor Rigby started playing and the pair laughed. Lavenders last name was Rigby.
"Hey this is your song Lavy" Finn smiled at Lavender and she giggled.
"Well it's our song now" Lavenders softly smiled at Finn and he smiled looking down at his keys. Finn started the car and music kept on playing.
The whole ride home the two sat in silence listening to songs that Lavender didn't quite recognize. She got into the music and Finn admired her openly love for his music.
Finn pulled up in front of Lavenders house making him frown. Lavender snapped out of her music state of mind and switched her attention to Finn.
"I had fun tonight Finn, except when I fell into the water" Lavender played with her fingers and the two laughed.
"Yea I had fun too" Finn smiled at her and she nodded playing with the silver ring on her finger.
"Thanks for "helping" me by the way" Lavenders eyes met with Finns.
"Yea it was no problem Lavender" Finn scooted closer to Lavender. Slowly so she wouldn't seem to notice.
The two fell quite, inches apart from each other. A spark of energy balanced between the pair. Finn took a piece of Lavenders hair and pushed it behind her ear. Lavender blushed and Finn placed his palm on her cheek. A sudden rush of adrenaline filled Finns body. He leaned in and their lips collided. His hand stayed upon her cheek and she gripped onto the car seat. The two parted. Finn left his nose upon hers but she quickly pulled away. Lavender opened the door and smiled to herself.
"Goodnight Finn" Lavender leaned over and kissed Finns cheek. She hopped out of the car and she faded into the dark night.
