Engaged to a host (Kaoru x reader)

Prologue ~ the will

You sniffled and scrunched your black skirt in your hand. You were sitting in a room alone, reading the will of your father. Earlier you had attended his funeral, it went exactly as you had planned it would, people told you they were sorry, then people made little speeches about him, then you all ate food prepared and served by your aunt. It was later now, and everybody had left you alone, they probably figured that you'd do best with alone time.

(FATHERS FULL NAME)
I, (FATHERS FULL NAME), a resident of Bunkyo, Tokyo, declare this to be my last Will, and do hereby revoke all former wills and codicils made by me.
I
I declare that I am not married. My marriage to (MOTHERS FULL NAME) has been dissolved. I have one child living now, (YOUR FULL NAME), I have no other children living or deceased.

I leave my entire fortune and estate to my child, (YOUR FULL NAME), and her betrothed, KAORU HITACHIIN.
III
I declare responsibility of my child, (YOUR FULL NAME), to the family butler, SEBASTIAN VALENTINE.

You read over the document in confusion, you were not and never have been engaged, or at least you didn't think you were. You needed confirmation on the subject immediately. You ran down stairs through your homes winding hallways in search of the only remaining servant of your household, the butler Sebastian who you fondly referred to as Sebby. You remember when the big house was alive with bustling maids, and busy servants, but ever since your father had come down with lung cancer his fortune slowly dwindled away, and one by one he had to let staff go until only Sebby remained.
"Sebby? Oh Sebby!" You called to him once you saw him rounding the corner.
"Yes Madam? Is everything alright?" He looked down at you concerned, his form much taller than your own.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine, but in the will it says I'm engaged to somebody named Kaoru Hitachiin, I've never met anybody with that name and I'm afraid the will is a hoax." You pushed the document up into Sebby's face.
In response you got a sigh and Sebby pulled something out of his jacket pocket. "I was told to give you this once the time was right, I suppose now's as good a time as any." Sebby gently put an envelope into your fingers, the contents jammed inside made it thick, and the seal looked ready to burst.
You nervously looked up to Sebby whilst opening the letter. Inside was a big hair accessory that looked like a vine of flowers, upon touching it you could tell it was made of clay. There were also two pieces of neatly folded parchment inside.
The first was a professional document.

When the time arrives that (Your full name), and Kaoru Hitachiin reach the legal age of marriage, the two will be wedded.

You looked up at Sebby then unfolded the second letter with care and read the contents on the page.

Beloved (Y/N),
If you're reading this you've started blossoming into a lovely young lady. I'm sure you are surprised by the news that you are marrying someone you have never met before, I remember I was as well the day I turned 16 and my mother told me. I was so scared to meet your father, what if he didn't like me, what if I didn't like him? I ended loving him more than I've ever loved anybody else before. I know that you will love Kaoru the same way I came to love your father, have faith, and stay strong, I'll always be inside your heart.

"Sebby it's a letter from my mom." You felt tears welling up inside of you, your mother died in a car accident when you were eight years old. "Wait, what am I supposed to do, where do I find this Kaoru guy?" Sebby pat your head reassuringly.
"Don't worry about all that, since tomorrow is Saturday I will contact the Hitachiin's and arrange your meeting them. How does that sound?" You were very nervous and didn't respond. "Do not worry madam, I'm certain this Kaoru boy is a delightful individual and you will get along just fine."
"Yeah, arrange a meeting for 10 at the earliest," You turned to go back to your room then momentarily stop, "Also, I suggest you read the will then start referring to me as (Y/N) instead, it does slide much easier off the tongue." And with that you were back to your room and ready for sleep after an exhausting day.

(Ah we have the prologue out of the way, now we can get on to the real story. I hope you guys are liking the story so far, I know I will have fun writing it. Oh and the picture is the hair clip from the envelope.)
