Dear Journal,

I remember those few weeks crystal clear. It was those weeks where Millie and I began to get closer. I mean we all started getting closer but Millie and I were beginning to get feelings for each other that were more than just friends. I was so happy those weeks, so happy until something had to happen.

On one special day a miracle happened, but little did I know this one thing would ruin so much in my life.

It started when the doctors walked in. From the moment they opened their mouths, my life would change forever.

"Miss brown? It's your grandfather, he's awake. Please come in."

You see, Millie was ecstatic. She held my hand and indicated for the rest of the boys to come in. As soon as she saw him she ran and hugged him.

"Well all be damned, look how beautiful my grand daughter has gotten" her grandfather said smiling. Millie and him continued to talk and the four of us stood there awkwardly until the doctors called her over.

He introduced himself to us, "Well hello there boys. I hope everything is going fine for you."

We talked momentarily, but he began to get sleepy so we tucked in him and left the room. Millie walked up to me and reached for my hand. She pulled me away to tell me something.

"Finn, I need to tell you something." She said staring down at the floor.

She gripped my hand harder and looked up at me, "The doctors say I'm allowed to go."

Inside I was broken but I knew I couldn't show her that. I looked her in the eyes and told her how amazing it was. She seemed relieved but still sad.

"What about you, I mean I don't want to leave you."

I exhaled, "Don't worry about me. Just promise to visit and text me, okay?"

"I promise I will."

We walked back to the room and Millie told the boys her grandfather was allowed to leave.

"Will this mean you'll be able to leave too?" Noah asked.

"I mean yes, I have to go back to school." She said. She looked at me and then back to Noah, "But I promise, I'll be here right after school finishes every single day."

"Good, because we would miss you!" Caleb responded.

"I would miss you all too." She said

You see, promises are dangerous things. You never know whether to trust them or not. So yeah, that was the day my life turned upside down.

Sincerely yours,

Finn Wolfhard
