Chapter 7

~ Jenna ~

This is like going to be the best day of my life!

Today's the day that I get to spend time with Jess!

Gosh, it's been so long since I've last seen her.

Or even heard her voice.

Imagine not hearing your sisters or brothers voice for so many years.

It was rough.

After I finished getting ready, I rushed down the stairs and grabbed my purse off of the couch.

I heard a car beep outside as I slipped my shoes on.

"Bye, mom! Bye, dad!" I yelled as I ran out the door.

Jess was smiling at me as I got into the front seat.

"Are you excited for today?" She asked as we pulled out of my driveway.

"Absolutely. I've waited far too long for this day." I said.

"Great, so I was thinking today we could do a little shopping, grab something to eat, and then head back to my place." Jess said.

"That sounds really cool." I said.

"Thought you might like it."

Once we pulled up to the mall, Jess parked the car and we walked inside.

"So where do you like to shop?" I asked.

"Mostly at Aeropostale, DSW, and Forever 21." She said. "What about you?"

"Actually, the same places as you." I laughed.

"Well, sisters sometimes have the same taste in clothing." She said.

First, we walked to Aeropostale and Jess instantly ran over to a dress.

"Oh my gosh! This is like the most perfect dress ever!" She squealed.

I laughed but followed her.

When I saw the dress, I gasped.

"That would look really good on you." I said as she held it in front of her.

It was a blue, sparkly, halter dress.

"I have to try this on." She said.

She put it on her arm and then we looked around some more.

"What about this, Jenna?" She asked holding up a purple dress.

After examining the tight tank top and bottom that flares out dress, I decided that I would try it on.

"Okay, try it on quickly." Jess said and we both went into a dressing room.

I'm probably going to look ugly next to her.

She's like the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my whole life.

I've always wanted to look like her but that just isn't happening.

I didn't bother looking in the mirror once I put the dress on and then I heard Jess's door open.

"Come out, Jenna!" I heard her say.

I followed her orders and walked out to see her gasp.

"You look so beautiful." She said.

"Really? Thanks. And by the way, that dress looks like it was made for you." I said.

"Thank you, Jenna. I say we get these and look for jewelry and then shoes." Jess said.

"So full outfit?" I asked.

"If you want."

"Of course I do!" I smiled.

After a little more shopping, we went to Applebee's.

I love this place!

"So what have you been doing this whole time?" I asked after we ordered our food.

"Uh, just trying to make it through and find myself. I haven't really done anything exciting. What about you?" Jess said.

"Well, basically, just hanging out with the girls, going to school. Not many fun things to do." I said.

"But you've got a boyfriend I see." Jess wiggled her eyebrows.

"Ugh, stop!" I laughed. "We've only been dating for a little while."

"Well he's seems really nice and caring." She said.

"What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?" I asked.

"Actually, I did have one boyfriend, but things just weren't working out." She sighed.

"Oh, that's too bad. Sorry about that."

"Nah, don't be. He just wasn't right." Jess shrugged.

Soon, our food came and we laughed and talked a little more.

"So, Jess. I have a really serious question to ask you." I said.

"Sure, what is it?" She asked.

"Well, I really want to know why you left." I asked slowly.

Touchy subject, I know.

"Well, Jenna. That's a complicated story. I left because I thought I needed to be independent. I thought that I didn't need to be with my family to succeed in life. I was totally wrong. Your family is always going to be there to support you if you love them and they love you. You can do anything you set your mind to an they will always be there to help you." Jess said.

"So, why did you stop talking to me?"

"It's not like I wanted to. I just got scared that if I reached out to you, you would hate me for leaving and want nothing to do with me." She confessed.

"That's not true at all. Each day I thought about why you left, and I always thought it was because of me." I said.

"It was never because of you. But all that matters now is that we're together again." Jess smiled.

"You're right. Thank you for today. I've had a lot of fun."

"Absolutely. This is probably the best day I've had in awhile." Jess said.

And it really was.

This is like the best day ever because I got my sister back.
