I've been sitting on my bed for the past ten minutes.

That's it. I need to get out of here.

I took up my phone and dialed Ana's number.

"Hey Sarah! Did you get my call last night?"

"I saw it this morning, I was sleeping when you called."

"Oh. Since when do you go to bed so early?"

"I don't know. Anyways, can we go to the park today?"

"Yea! Can we have a picnic?"

"Sure. But I was planning to work on our project."

"I'll invite the others then."

"Okay."

A few moments passed before she spoke again.

"Sarah?"

"Yes?"

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. See you later, okay?"

I didn't bother to wait on a reply, because I knew she would continue to question me; instead I ended the call.

I started to search for something to wear when I heard a knocking on my door. Instead of telling the person to come in, I wanted to open the door myself, incase it was my dad. If it was, I would slam the door in his face...or maybe I wouldn't.

I was relieved to see my mother when I opened the door.

"Honey, can we talk?" she asked. I stared at her for a while before answering. I wasn't sure if I should say yes or no.

"No, mom. There is nothing to talk about. Sometimes, I have to wonder if you really love me. I wonder if you love my father more. Are you blind to his treatment towards us? I need you to be honest with me. I don't need you to attempt to comfort me by telling me everything is gonna be alright. Because nothing is alright. So if that was your intention, then no, I don't want to talk." I said, surprising myself as each word came out of my mouth.

"Sarah Jade Logan. You know I love you. And yes, I do love your father too. I love you both equally. I know he can be very frustrating and nerve-wrecking. But just give him some time. He loves you Sarah. Trust me, he does. We are a family. We need to work this out together. I don't want to see this family fall apart. So just please give him some time. We can do this. Please?" my mother pleaded. Give him time to do what? Why can't he just be a good father now? I don't understand.

"Give him time to do what?" I repeated my thoughts.

"I don't know Sarah, but please. All I want...is for us to be a happy family" she replied as a tear fell down her left cheek.

I've never seen my mother cry before. What am I supposed to do? Before thinking, I found myself hugging her. I allowed her to cry for about twenty seconds.

"I'm sorry mom. I'll give him time." I finally spoke.

She stopped hugging me to look into my eyes.

"Thank you." she said, her voice cracked.

She started to walk to her room.

"Mom!" I shouted from my doorway. She instantly turned around as she heard my voice. "I'll be going out with my friends at twelve." I informed her.

She nodded and continued walking.

"So...where is Brandon and Cornella?" I asked her.

"They both said they would be busy all afternoon.." Ana explained.

"Ugh! Okay what do you have?" I asked. Brandon and Cornella are always absent from meetings! They don't even contribute much to the grade, ever!
