The next day, I awoke later than usual. It was nearly noon, and I felt extremely out of place still being in bed instead of at work.
Yawning quietly, I threw my blankets off and rubbed my eyes. As my blurred vision cleared, I noticed my phone laying near my pillow, and all of the memories from the night before came rushing back.
I had done it.
I had finally gotten the chance to hang out with Calum, and we clicked.
Reaching for my phone, my pulse quickened as I anticipated what I would see.
I took a deep breath while simultaneously unlocking my phone.
3 new texts. One of which was from Calum.
Good morning! Hope you had a good time last night. Can't wait to see you again :)
To keep from drawing unwanted attention to myself, I squealed silently and flailed around the bed.
Once I had settled, I sent my reply.
It was perfect! I'll come up with a way for us to meet up again...promise
With a sigh, I rolled out of bed and stood, stretching my hands up to ceiling. While Calum was both beautiful and exciting, if I didn't make an appearance downstairs soon, my parents would be on my case about what I had been up to last night. The stairs creaked as I sauntered down them, wishing I had brought my phone along. But if Calum's name happened to flash across the screen and my father saw it, the game would be over before it even started.
"Morning. Or shall I say afternoon?" I shook my head. My mom used the same line every time I woke up after 11.
"Good morning. What's all of this?" I motioned to the surplus of food covering the kitchen table. There was usually a nice spread for breakfast and dinner, but this one took the cake.
My mom beamed at me while my dad put down the newspaper. "Sit, sit, sit! I have good news."
I pulled out a chair opposite my parents and plopped down. "What is it?"
Before she could begin explaining, I started stacking pancakes and fruit onto a plate.
"As you know, your aunt Grace has been seeing a nice new man for awhile now. She called in last night and left me a lovely message. She's getting married!"
I mentally rolled my eyes. Grace had been married at least 3 times in the past 5 years. This wasn't anything unusual.
"Okaaay. Anything else?"
My mom cocked her head to the side in confusion. "What do you mean 'anything else'? Aren't you excited?"
Shrugging, I poked around at my food. "No offense, but aunt Grace getting married isn't really..news, is it?"
My dad snickered then nearly choked on his coffee when my mom slapped him on the back of the head.
"I suppose she's been married quiet a few times. But this time she wants you to be a bridesmaid! Isn't that sweet? You'll get to wear a nice dress and be in all the pictures. Ah! It's so exciting."
Too avoid making a comment, I quickly shoved a forkful of pancakes into my mouth and replied with a simple, "Mhmm."
I didn't want to be the one to kill her buzz. That would have to wait until Grace filed for her 4th divorce.

Later that day, I found myself lounging by the pool at Melinda's house. Usually, we would hang out at mine considering her boyfriend, Luke, lived next door to me, but he was currently away on vacation, as were her parents, so we had spent a majority of the day doing absolutely nothing.
