Mathias
I knew that it wouldn't last long before Cadence was texting me or calling me. Rhys is a bit much to deal with most days and I kind of just up-ended his life by forcing him to watch over her while I deal with everything back home.
Her message about wanting to kill him in his sleep made me laugh, but I never got the chance to message her back.
The minute we pulled into the driveway, Marks comes right at me. "Where the fuck is she?" he's pissed, and I know it's only going to piss him off more that she isn't with me.
"I don't know who you could be referring to." I grin at him, and he closes the distance between us, going toe to toe with me.
"Fuck you, Mathias. You know exactly who I am talking about. Where is Cadence Eeves?" He looks around me towards the car that I just stepped out of, but she never appears.
"Haven't seen her. Got my end of the deal, so I don't give a fuck." I grin at him before continuing. "Maybe you should check with your boy Aldrick. I mean, isn't that the guy she's obsessed with?"
I can feel my security guys inching closer as we stand facing off in the driveway.
"When I find that little prick, I'm going to kill him, and then I'm gutting her too." I shrug my shoulders, not giving a damn what he threatens. He will never go near her for as long as I'm alive.
"You would think that as a businessman, you would think giving that much product to an idiot like him was a mistake the first time. Clearly, you didn't know he would fuck you over for a second time, right? Karma and all that bullshit."
He grins at me, and he hand reaches up, bringing my men closer to us. "I suggest you keep your little play thing closer if you want to save her. I won't stop until I kill that bastard brother of hers. And if I get my hands on her, she's dead too."
He'll never touch her, and he already knows it.
"Get the fuck off my property. Aldrick isn't my problem. I don't really care what happens to him." I turn and start to walk away, my men staying with Marks.
"You'll regret not helping me," he sneers.
I turn around to look at him. "No, I won't. I already paid his debt once, and I won't make that same mistake twice, unlike someone I know."
I turn to continue walking away, and I hear my men yell, "Gun!" I don't get a chance to even move before I feel the burning as something strikes me. The sounds of guns going off around me sound more like toy cap guns than the real thing.
Collapsing to the ground, I feel someone put pressure on my side and yell at someone to call 911. Yelling and cursing are all I hear, and I have no fucking clue what is going on or how he was able to pull a gun. My men wouldn't just let it happen. This place is safer than most high-security facilities.
The sound of an ambulance blares in the air and it doesn't take long before the pain gets to be too much and I go unconscious.

Cadence
The ringing of my phone is driving me close to waiting to throw the damn thing through Rhys window. I'm sure it would make him bitch even more for making a mess or whatever, but I don't care.
As soon as it stops ringing, I can't help but snuggle into Mathias' shirt. I think I hear Rhys phone ring next, but I can't really be sure. If it is ringing, he must be fucking deaf.
"Fuck," I hear him mutter on the other side of the wall. The sound of something crashing fills my ears, and I rub my eyes sleepily. What the fuck is he doing over there?
