The Doctor followed the signal to a busy shop. "That's not right. Somebody should have noticed the-" He cut off his sentence as he saw the dummies in the shop window, and thought back to his encounters with the Nestene Consciousness.
He ran into the shop and jumped into the lift. He was alone, so he used his sonic screwdriver (a new one to go with the new face) on the controls. He had picked it up in the TARDIS, where he kept some extras. They all had the same software, just a different case. And he had also changed the TARDIS desktop theme before he left. He was a bit tired of the "round things".
He took the lift to the basement. There he found a dark room that was storing some of the shop window dummies, and snuck in. He quietly crouched behind a large boxes and peered over the top.
"Maybe I can jump out and sonic the energy readings off of one.", he thought to himself.
Suddenly, the lights flickered on and a blonde girl walked in.
"Wilson? Wilson!", she shouts.
The doors slam shut behind her and she runs back to it, trying frantically to get it open. "Your'e kidding me.", she mutters.
There's a clattering sound heard from the shadows of the room and she turns. "Is that someone mucking about?", she asks the room. "Who is it?"
The Doctor watches as a shop dummy in a purple shirt turns its head and starts walking towards the girl.
"Yeah, you got me. Very funny.", she says.
More and more dummies start moving. The girl is backing away, but she'll soon be cornered.
"Right, I've got the joke. Who's idea was this? Is it Derek's? Is it? Derek is this you?"
"Typical human.", the Doctor mutters, as he makes his way to the girl, while staying in the shadows. She's about to be murdered and she thinks it's someone playing a joke. Humans always come up with excuses when they refuse to believe what's right in front of them.
The girl is cornered now and the dummy raises its arm. The Doctor knows he can't stop all the dummies with just his screwdriver, there's too much psychic energy interference. Instead he jumps out from the shadows, grabs her hand, and whispers "Run."
