(POV Elias)

My turn now, Hello my name is Elias I was born into wealthy family in Atlas. My parents are the owners of Kobayashi Enterprises. I am one of 5 children and I'm blind. I know kind of just dropped that out there, but... yeah it's one thing that has made for a rough life. Waking up everyday and it's still dark for me. Living where I can't see my sisters and brothers. Living where I couldn't even see my own parents. Years of working to get used to living how I do, I've got used to it. That's until my mother died when I was 8 years ago. It took me years to let her go. My mother always supported me and convinced me to be a hunter.

Last month we got a surprise visit from Headmaster Ozpin. He was a kind and curious man. He spoke to me like I was any other student. He told me about Fox Alistair who was starting his second year at Beacon Academy. Fox was also blind. He asked me about my fighting styles, my weapon and other details about me. It lasted about an hour to two hours and all I remember is him saying is "See you in a month." I couldn't believe it. As I asked him that meant I was accepted and he handed me an invitation to his school. He laughed and said "Yes Elias it does." And with that I haven't looked back and have been preparing for this day, but it isn't turning how I wanted it to.

"Father I am going to Beacon and that is that!" I yell as I keep packing my things.

"Not if I can help it. Elias stop thinking so selfishly, and think of the future you can have in Atlas." My father retorts back with as he grabs my shoulder and turns me around. I knock his hand away and look him straight in the eyes.

"This is because of my blindness, isn't it? Because I can tell you Ozpin, Ezekiel, Emily, Eric, and Elise believe in me. And so would mom." I say, but when I turn around my father had enough.

"DON'T YOU DARE BRING UP EVELYN, YOU HERE ME! DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? I'M DOING THIS FOR YOU! YOU KNOW WHAT, YES ELIAS IT IS! YOU CAN'T BE A HUNTER ALRIGHT! YOU ARE NOT READY, YOU HEAR ME! YOUR BLINDNESS WILL SLOW YOU DOWN AS WELL AS YOUR TEAMMATES. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE LIKE YOUR OTHER SIBLINGS?" He breathes heavily after all of his screaming.

Tears start to well up in my eyes. "Get out." I coldly say.

"Elias I'm-" My father tries to grab my shoulder again.

"GET OUT! NOW!" Electricity building in my hands as tears are streaming down from my face.

He straightens himself up. "Very well, we will talk when you are in a right mind to listen." With that he walks out of my room.

I just sat on my bed and kept crying. "Why do I have to be blind?" I thought to myself. "Why couldn't I be born with the ability to see? If I could see, my family wouldn't see me as a liability.

My sister, Emily, walked in. "Elias stand up and stop acting like a child." She grabbed my arm and stood me up. She then grabbed her handkerchief and started to wipe away the tears. "Look, Elias I'm not going to stop you from being a Hunter. Ok?"

I looked at her with amaze, usually she would tell me to listen to father, but now she was on my side. "You really think I should become a hunter?" I questioned her as a smile started to come across my face.

"To tell you the truth Elias, I think going to Atlas Academy would be a setback in your fighting abilities." She said as she hugged me stroking my hair. She wasn't the oldest out of us, but she had always been there for me and my other siblings. We separated and she started to help pack my cases. "Oh, by the way Elias."

I looked at her with curiosity. "Yeah, Emily?"

She smiled, "Don't let father's tone get to you. You still have things to learn, but you are ready. He's just afraid he'll lose you like he did mom." I wiped the rest of my tears off my face as I strapped on Subterra Force.

A simple name that I had called my weapon. I fight with mostly swift and powerful kicks using the styles of Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Capoeira and mixing in some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well for grappling. Even with my blindness I can still see my enemies. How you might ask? By picking up their vibrations in the air or feeling their movements in general. I feel they're presence and use that to hit my target. Even though my father hated me practicing, he still had teachers give me lessons, so I would be prepared. Imagine echolocation with bats except my boots give a pulse for me to see. Finally I have my semblance which I call electrokinesis. You probably can guess what it is, I can bend lighting from my hands, it can also help me with seeing the enemy as I am able to feel if there is an interruption with my lighting.

After packing and heading for dinner, I announced to my family that I was attending Beacon Academy and that was final. I had waited for a rejection from my father, but all he said was "If that is what you desire so be it." I looked over at Emily and she gave me a simple wink.

He raised his glass as we all did. "To Elias' acceptance to Beacon. To Elias!" Everyone responded "To Elias!" And everyone took a drink.

I placed my last suitcase on the conveyor belt. Me, Emily, Eric, Ezekiel, and Elise, headed to the plane terminal. I took a breath and tried to clear my mind of all doubts.

"Nervous?" My father asked.

"A little, but when I get there I know I'll be so excited." I smiled at him and he led me to the counter.

"Your ticket please." The stewardess asked. I gave her the ticket and with that she responded with "Enjoy your flight."

Eric and Emily hugged me both at once. "Behave yourself now." Emily said as she rubbed my head.

"Yeah, and don't try to show off to much. I mean you can showoff, but... You know what I mean." I laughed as he to rubbed my head ruffling my hair.

I looked at both Ezekiel and Elise who were both tearing up at me leaving. "I promise I'll write to you every week about my adventures and school. Elise and Ezekiel ran up and jumped into my arms. Eric and Emily joined in for one big sibling hug.

We all separated, as tears again began to well up in my face. "Hey no crying." Emily said rubbing my eyes. "I love you guys."

I walk over to my dad and he hugs me and I hug back. "I love you Dad." He too tears up.

"I love you too Elias." I head to the plane.

"Dad?" I turn around.

"Yes son?" I gave him a thumbs up.

"I'll make you proud." And with that ran onto the plane.

"I know you will." He said to himself. My plane was soon airborne as it headed to Beacon Academy and the Kingdom of Vale.

"This is it." I said to myself as I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
