Over the Edge

Dakota's POV

It's freezing cold outside and Father had commanded I be locked in my chambers until we pass through this weather. The cold effects me more then the others as I am part mermaid. Mermaids don't like cold climate and could easily freeze to death. So here I am surrounded in blankets with all the lamps lit wishing Lady was here to help keep me warm.

Soon Tia Dalma entered the room closing the door behind her. "I forgot to thank you Tia, for bringing back my Father" I tell her with a smile.

"We made a deal, now I have a way to help you with the cold" she states. Then matters some sort of spell and I warmed up. "This should keep you warm for now, but Barbossa said we should be out of the snow soon" she assures me.

"Why can't you bring Jack back the same way you brought back my father?" I ask her.

"Because Barbossa was only dead, Jack Sparrow has been taken body and soul. He was taken to a place not for death, but for punishment. The worst fate a man can bring upon himself, stretching on forever. That's want awaits us in Davy Jones locker" she explains. "I thought you'd know this even though you have only been a pirate for a short while" she adds.

"I never understood completely want the locker was only that it was punishment or for souls who haven't found peace" I tell her. Just then father enters the room and looks between Tia Dalma & I. He dismissed her saying he wished to speak to me in private. "Father can I leave yet?" I ask.

"Soon my daughter" he says chuckling as he wraps an arm around me. "Want were you two talking about?" he asks.

"I asked her why she couldn't bring Jack back let she did you and want the locker was" I state. "She said Jack was taken body and soul while you were only dead. Then explained the locker to me" I explain. "She also mentioned a deal, what did she mean by that?" I ask.

"What do you know of Calypso?" he asks in return.

"Not much, only that she is a goddess that was bond in human form so that she would no longer be able to control the sea. That it was the first Brethren Court that did it" I state.

"Tia Dalma is the goddess Calypso" he states. "She gave me a second chance at being your father in return that I free her. Only when I do that will I be truly alive again. Until then my life is in her hands" he explains.

"So that's why we need Jack, because he is a pirate lord and failed to pass on his piece of eight" I state and he nods his head. "Father if we make it through this I wanted to find out more about my mother's side of the family. I can't do that on land" I start saying.

"You mean to go to White Cape Bay" he finishes and I nod my head in agreement. "I'll miss you my daughter, but know wherever you go. You'll always be my first mate" he state.

"Aye father, now tell me again how we are getting to the Locker" I state.

"First we must be lost and then we'll fall over the edge of the world" he states.

"But wouldn't that kill us and destroy the ship?" I ask.

"True, but once we have Jack and the Pearl we'll be able to return to this world. But know when we appear in the locker we'll probably emerge from water" he explains.

"Meaning I'd be a mermaid, but not everyone knows about that father. Only Tia Dalma, Will, Elizabeth and you know that" I tell him.

"I know which is why you must stay hidden and then get onto the Pearl before us. So that you can turn human again before we board" he tells me. "We have passed the snow come my daughter with me to the Helm" he states. I follow him out to the deck and then to the helm where Jack (the monkey) jumps onto my shoulder.

"Barbossa" Will calls appearing in front of us as we gained speed. "Up ahead" he states pointing.

"Aye, we're good and lost now" father states.

"Lost?" Elizabeth exclaims.

"You have to be lost to find a place that can't be found" I tell her.

"Otherwise everyone would know where it is" Father finishes.

"We're gaining speed" Gibbs states after looking over the side.

"All hands to stations" Will orders and everyone follows the order. While I just followed my father calmly as he didn't look worried. "Hard to port!" Will yells.

"Belay that!" Father shouts.

"Let run straight and true" I add. Everyone else runs to the front of the ship while I stood by my father. I heard Ragetti say 'blimey' before Elizabeth stormed back over to my father and I.

"You've doomed us all" she accuses him.

"Don't be so unkind" I tell her as my father and I wrap our arms around some rope tied to the ship.

"You may not survive to pass this way again and these maybe the last friendly words you hear" Father tells her holding her chin gently. "Besides do you think I would intentionally endanger my daughter?" he asks wrapping his arm around me letting go of Elizabeth's chin. I to wrapped my free arm around him.

"If we go down father, this time we go down together" I tell him in a determined voice.

"Aye together" he states. Elizabeth calls hard to port and Will turns the ship. But it's to late as we begin to fall over the edge. Will tells everyone else to hold on as he holds onto the steering control (don't know want it's called) for dear life.

"Jack, there you go hold onto me" I tell the monkey as he went pass me placing him onto my shoulder. He holds on tight as we fall over the edge. "Don't you dare let go Elizabeth and Will!" I yell at them as everything wet black.
