It's always hope

Cream's POV

"Dang" I heard Tails mumble to himself when he looked into the red eyes of the death machine, Metal Sonic.

I only stood in the door opening and stared shocked at both Metal and Tails. Metal came so unexpectedly and just stared at Tails. "Eggman wants a word with you, Miles Prower"

I looked at Tails with questionable eyes. 'Miles... Prower? Oh yeah, that's his real name. Wait, how did the robot know?'

Tails growled at the sound of his name. I didn't really understand why. If this is his name, why isn't he using it?
"What do Egghead want?" Tails didn't budge from his spot, but I could tell he were ready to attack if needed.
"Come with me" The robot said.
"Come with you? In your dreams metal" He replied as he stood up and looked at metal. 'Well, I have no choice but to use force then' The robot said as he shot himself towards Tails at high speed. It looked like Tails knew this would happen, because he quickly jumped out of the way and landed behind the robot.

Quickly Tails threw a punch towards metal. Badly for him is that Metal caught his fist and threw him hard into a tree. "Tails!!" I shouted accidentally. Metal turned to look at me and if he had a mouth, he would be smirking. He shot himself towards me at surprising speed and I squealed in surprise. Tails saw this though and quickly flew in front of metal and held out his sword shields towards him. Metal flew right into the shields and gave pressure to Tails. He groaned at the pressure, but gave his best and pulled him backwards. Tails then spun around on one foot and kicked Metal hard away. Metal flew a few feet away before crashing into a tree. After the smoke cleared, Metal have lost one of his arms and his body are bulked. "I will get you next time, Miles Prower!"  

"Heh, I would like to see you try!" I heard Tails shout back and Metal flew away with sparks coming out of where his previous arm were.

Tails sat on the couch and waited for me to get the aid kit. I came back with it and sat down beside him. He had gotten scars on his back and they were bloody. I cleaned his back and I could tell that he were trying his best to not flinch in pain. I giggled to myself and swirled a bandage around his belly and back. "Um... Why do you hate your real name?" I had to say something to break this awkward silence and i were also curious. He looked surprised, but it turned into a warm smile. My cheeks turned red again as I finished helping his wounds. He turned to look at me. "I knew you would ask that sometime. Well, it's because my name is basically a pun. If you say it a few times, you will hear Miles per hour, not Miles Prower... " He said as he smiled to me. "People liked to make fun of my name, so I started to hate it. But don't think about it. I am fine with Tails. I really like it honestly"

I decided to change the subject. "Tails, you were really strong today and protected me from that robot" He looked at me and brought me gently into his strong arms. I felt his warmth and slowly hugged him back. He laid his head on my head and petted my back slowly.

I somehow felt comfort in his arms, I have no idea why. "Of course I protected you Cream. You are my friend" The sound of the word 'friend' made my heart jump of happiness. I haven't heard that in a long time and it  moved me to tears. Tails' ears moved and he heard me starting to cry and looked at me worried. "Cream? Are you ok?" I looked at him with a smile on my face and tears streamed down from my eyes. "Y-Yes. I just, haven't had a friend or been called a friend in years" I stuttered while my cries choked my voice. Tails looked surprised at me and hugged me into another comforting hug. "Just cry Cream. I am here for you~" That was the end of my tries of holding my sadness inside. I just lost it and my tears streamed down from my eyes like a waterfall.

Tails petted my back gently and I felt his other hand move up behind my neck. He started to scratch my neck gently and I slowly felt my purr escape my throat together with the cries. 'How did he know that i liked to be scratched there?' I didn't really think more about it, because I felt the tiredness grab me into slumber and before I knew it, I fell asleep in Tails' arms.

~Morning~

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a few times to entirely wake up. My head laid on something soft and I have a blanket around me. I slowly sat up and looked around me. 'I am in Tails' room' I thought. I got off his bed and walked downstairs, there were no sign to him so I walked around in his house to look for him.

That was when I heard some noises from a door in the living room. I slowly opened the door and walked inside. My eyes widened as I looked inside the huge room filled with all kinds of machinery. His plane were placed in the middle of the room and lights filled the garage with the sights of all of the inventions on all of the shelves everywhere on the walls. I walked around the plane and saw Tails in a chair drawing something on a blue piece of paper. A very big piece of paper. I slowly walked over to him and looked at the paper. It looked like a long bracelet and a half part of a canon. He were drawing with a white pencil and i got more curious, so I leaned over his shoulder. "What are you doing?"

It looked like Tails didn't know I was here because he froze like ice and his fur shot straight up along with his tails. The sight was so funny that i broke out in laughter. It looked like he saw a ghost. He then sighed out and turned to look at me. "Do you want my soul to escape my body?" He said with a hint of laughter in his voice. I just laughed more and he joined me.

After a while of laughing, Tails started to explain to me what he worked with. It was a weapon named "The Arm Canon" I had no idea what it was, but he also told me about his inventions on all of the shelves. Like some tiny balls, if you dropped them on the ground, they will explode or send out some kind of chemical.

Tails said that what he is, is called a Mechanic. I suddenly started to get more and more curious about Tails. He have a lot to tell, I just know it and the thought of him being my friend. It makes me even more happy! He is so kind, gentle, open and strong at heart. It is everything I wanted in a friend and now. I found one or more likely, he found me.  

Sorry for not updating this story in forever!! I lost inspiration to continue writing, but i got it back!! Hope you liked this guys!! ^^
