I came out of the bedroom with a bandage on my shoulder cursing Lane's name.
Lane chuckled a bit. "What are you even still doing here...?" I muttered.
"I want Ava. That rat Jeanine should have told you everything. I only have what... 5 more years to live?"
"So the 30 year thing is true."
"You thought Jeanine lied when she told you this morning?" He smiled. I glared at him. "Thought I didn't know you talked to your little girlfriend? Or that you left this morning?" He taunted
I picked up a vase and threw it. He immediately caught it and narrowed his eyes. He threw it back and I ducked. It almost took my head off at the speed it was going at. "Do you ever shut the fuck up?" I hissed
"You wanna fight with a super human? Be. My. Guest."
He charged foreward and I knocked him into the wall towards Ava's room. He threw a punch and I used my arms to block my face. He grabbed my shirt and I grabbed his hair.
Ava cleared her throat and stood in the doorway. Her now short black curly hair was in a crazy manor. She had stains around her mouth. Probably from drooling. She opened her brown eyes and her eyes watered from exhaustion. She looked unusually cute. Maybe Jeanine was right. Maybe I do like her.
Her eyes widened. She put her hand to her head. She used her powers to separate us. She took a deep breath. "Im getting sick and tired of this..."
"It wasn't my fault it was his." Lane snapped. She was really struggling. Using telepathy to connect her mind to two others. Then her telekinesis.
"Ava, stop. You'll strain yourself." I frowned.
"I did this for a reason....... You both fight over me like I'm a trophy. I want no part in it. Fight for your own reasons. Fighting doesn't win my affection." She yelled.
"It's for your protection." I defended myself.
"I can protect myself thank you." She smacked Lane. "Can't you get along with anyone?"
He made an appalled face.
She shook her head and went into the room. She slammed the door and I heard a bunch of shuffling. The noise stopped and the room went silent. "Fuck did she leave?" Lane munbled and opened the door.
I noticed Ava facing the window clutching the bed tightly. She turned her torso around and her face looked disgusted. She glanced at my direction before Lane closed the door behind him.
Deep voice yelling abrupted from the room. Lane screamed the words 'grateful' and 'mother'. Many items were being smashed in the room. I opened opened the door and found Ava pinned to the wall by Lane. "Don't worry about me. Just go."
"Yeah you should go." Lane laughed. I widened my eyes. "You-"
With a wave of her hand, Ava forced me out of the room and more commotion happened. Why is this happening... Jean told me not to provoke him and look what I did. We would still be back at my house. If only.... If fucking only.
Lane fell through the door with cuts and bruises. He looked absolutely terrified but kept his cool. "This isn't over. I will have you. Even if it kills me." Ava emerged with little to no damage.
Ava pushed him through the glass and out of the window. She grabbed my hand and teleported away.
I opened my eyes and we ended up back in my house.
"What happened......"
"Lane wanted something I wasn't planning on giving him. He got mad and one thing led to another."
"Ava I'm sorry. I should have told you from the beginning."
She turned her back to me. "I knew since the beginning, But I was hoping he would change his mind about it."
"No... I mean. I really like you Ava. If I had told you since the beginning, none of this would have happened. None of it."
"You can't blame yourseld for what happened. You can't believe that our feelings could have change the whole thing."
"Our."
"You were always so dense TJ." She touched my cheek. "But confessing right now? It isn't the right time. I am literally am fighting someone close to the perfect mutant. What if I die? What if you die? What if-"
I pulled her into a hug. "Then what ever happens happens." I smiled.
"This whole thing is a handful. Do you know what you are getting into?"
"I've been in this since I met you."
She pulled out a pistol from behind the fridge and a duffle bag from behind the stove
"Wait wait... when did you-...."
"I recall asking if you knew what you were getting into." She patted my shoulder and passed me to get more supplies.
