In the morning, Lin put her new jeans and new cute purple top on it had lace on the sleeves. Lin waved her arms around watching the lace flow in the air. Lin finished her orange juice and her thistle for breakfast. I watched her eat she was so excited, and looked so adorable.
On the way to school, she was fixated on zipping her backpack. She was freak-out about havng a zipper. I couldn't help but giggle watching her look amazed by the zipper.
"Its just a zipper." I told her.
"I know but it reminds me of the ancient museum at home." she smiled.
"So where is home anyway?" I asked.
"Home is far away on Norm." she answered.
"That so funny." I giggled.
"I dont know why." Lin frowned.
"Its short for normal. and here in my world normal means when everything is the way its supposed to be." I told her.
" Yes normal I read about that in the webster." Lin smiled.
"Right, the webster, you've read a lot of books. I'm sure you'll be quick to learn at school." I said.
"Are we there yet?" Lin enthusiastically asked.
"Spoken like a true human child. I see no difference. I guess were really not that different."
LIn stared out the window, she was focused on getting to school. I'm not sure she even heard my last comment.
"Lin I need you to look at me."
Lin turned to look at me, I looked at he seriously.
"Lin I need you to remember your name. Here people usually have three names. I'm going to name you Lin Sky Flowers. Its really different but it will be okay. Can you remember that?"
"My name is not Sky Flowers." she giggled.
"I know Lin, but I'm your Mother and I'm naming you Sky and giving you my last name Flowers. So your first name is Lin, your middle name is Sky, and your last name is Flowers."
"I love my name because you gave it to me. I love you....Mother" Lin gently smiled.
"I love you too Lin,"
"I love you, and I love school." Lin sang out.
"Were here!" I said happily.
"I'm ready for school." Lin cheered.
I pulled into the parking lot, it was such a big school. I was very apprehensive about her first day. I wondered how she would react to everyone, and how they would react to her. Lin got out of the car and stood frozen.
"Go LIn its what you wanted to do, its school. You'll learn and have fun." I tried to soothe her.
"I'm waiting for you." she told me.
"I'm coming silly, Did you honestly think I'd let you walk in alone?." I giggled.
We walked inside, I filled out some paperwork. Lin was escorted to class by her counseler. I left feeling nervous. I drove half way home, and I just couldn't do it. My mind was racing with thoughts of Lin doing something unnatural like floating or something.I didnt even know everything she was capable of yet. I was panicked. I drove back into the parking lot, parked and raced to the office. There was a different lady sitting at the desk.
"I just dropped off my daughter and I forgot to give her something?" I lied.
"No problem, give me her name and grade."
