We searched for hours, wherever she went she was hidden well. I felt defeated, Mason and I walked back toward the cabin. We thought maybe she went back to the cabin while we were out searching for her. On our way back, we saw two black vans. Four men in black suits were heading toward the cabin.
"What? How did they find us?" I cried.
"I don't know." Mason tensed.
We both became horrified when we watched them take Lin. She went with them without a struggle, it was as if she wanted to go with them. I was confused. Suddenly I felt a stabbing pain in my side, and everything went black. Apparently, I blacked-out. I woke-up feeling funny, I stuggled to open my eyes. Finally, I was able to opened them, it was extremely hard to focus. I realized immediately, I had been drugged. I tried to move but couldn't, I noticed I was tied down to a chair. I saw Mason tied to the other chair. Fear swept through me. I thought this is it, were both going to die now. The leader, or at least the one looking in charge stood in front of us.
"The female is being taken care of." he told us.
"Where is she? She is just a sweet girl, What did you do to her!" I screamed.
"I talk, not you. This is how this works. I talk, you listen, any questions, you die." he corrected me.
"No! Leave her alone. You don't have to do this." Mason screamed.
"Okay you die." the leader said.
He pulled out a strange looking gun with a long barrel and pointed it directly at his head.
"Please, we understand don't kill him. We will not say another word. Please." I pleaded.
"Smart." he said.
He put his gun away.
The female will be a vital asset to this country. Now, you will go on with your life, as if this never happened. If you do, things will go well for you. If you don't, you and your family will have, what the evening news will call accidents. You don't want to have an accident right? Now shake your heads if you understand."
Mason and I didn't speak anymore, we shook our heads in agreement. They untied us, and had us drink some drink. I was terrified, but I had to drink it. We both did.
"This drink will help you relax, so you wont be upset about our little meeting here today"
They drove away, I saw Lins head in the back seat. I was so happy she was going with them. And I knew it was the drug working on me. We both were in a really good mood. Whatever drug they had us drink had us feeling terrific. We hung out in the cabin, and an hour later, we were so sleepy we just couldn't stay awake. We slept the rest of the day, and all night.
In the morning, I woke to a headache, I got up to find my purse, I found some pain meds and got a cup of water. Mason heard me, and woke up.
"My head is pounding." he told me.
"Here take this."
"thanks"
"Here's some water." I handed him a cup.
"She's gone you know that, There not going to ever give her back." I told him
"I know."
"I wish she would of never came here." I cried.
"Don't say that she got to see you, and you had some time together." he softly said.
I knew he was trying to confort me, but there was nothing anyone could do to confort me. I felt numb, I wanted to get my car from Thomas house and go home.
"Can you drive?"
"Um sure."
"Take me to Thomas's to get my car"
"Ya, lemme get my keys."
I stood staring out at the woods, I knew I'd rather her be in the woods lost somewhere, than with those monsters. I couldn't bare thinking about what they may be doing to her.I couldn't understand why didn't she stuggle? Why didnt she force them into a chair with her energy. She has powers she didnt use. Why? This seemed so strange to me. I felt helpless.
We drove to Thomas house. I didn't want to talk to Thomas. I wanted to go home. I started walking to my car.
"Hey."
Mason stopped me. I stood looking at him.
"So where are you going? Don't you want to talk to Thomas?
"No, I want to go home."
"I'm sure Thomas would like to know were okay Brook." he gently scolded.
"You tell him."
I walked away.
"No I stayed with you, I helped you. Your coming in the house, and I'm not letting you out of my sight I don't trust those men."
I stood looking at him. He gave me a sincere look. What was my problem I thought. I really wasn't trying to be a bitch. I just felt horrible and wanted to go home.
"Your right,."
"Thanks." Mason smiled sadly.
We stayed a while talking about everything that happened. Thomas looked very worried and nervous.
"Thomas. I'm going to stay away from your house a while."
"I understand." Thomas looked relieved.
I felt maybe they were watching us, and I didn't want to complicate anyones elses life. We said our goodbyes, and started walking to our cars. Mason caught up to me and pulled me close. I looked into his eyes.
"Go ahead and take your car home. I'm going to follow you."
"You sure I think I've caused enough problems for you."
"Yes I'm very sure."
"Okay." I didn't argue.
We went to my place. He came in and made himself at home. The kitty came up to him and rubbed his leg purring.
"Hey cute kitty."
"Its Lins."
That was all it took, I was crying all over again. Mason wrapped his arms around me.
"I know...I know..." he said comforting me.
I held on to him. I felt safe with him there with me. I was happy he wanted to be there. I knew I loved him. I hated thinking I put him in danger. My emotions went crazy, my thoughts were racing. He held me tighter.
"I need you to know something." he told me.
I looked at him. I couldn't talk I was so overwhelmed.
"I'm in love with you." he told me softly.
"I love you too."
I barely got the words out through all the tears. Now what happens I thought. Hopefully things would get better from here. All I knew is I was in love with Mason, and I wanted my daugher Lin back.
