Your POV

It was your first day of at a new school. You were introduced to your new classmates in your class. At break and lunch, you talked and hanged out with them. Surprisingly for you, you quickly made friends with them. Three of your best friends are Kesha, Sadie, and Jane. In the same day, the boys teased you and the girls from morning to evening. You and the girls paid them back with even more insults. It was ironically fun.

Few days later, you were sitting in history class, waiting for the teacher to come up to the desk. Suddenly, you heard someone whispering to you in a rich, baritone voice, “I got a surprise for you, and you have to find it out.”

You were utterly shocked by it. Even more frustrating, you had no idea where it came from. While you were still wondering who might have mutter, your history teacher asked for all of your attention. The chatters between your classmates were silenced down. After everyone looked up to the teacher, he began to speak up. The first thing he talked was about childhood. The way your teacher talked was lighthearted, and your mind sure could point out the favorite moments of your childhood. Everyone giggled throughout the whole talk.

But as time went on, the teacher shifted from childish fun to the seriousness of adulthood. Your face turned grimmer as he began to talk more lethargically. Bored, your eyes skimmed through the pages of the history textbook. As you fell to the depth of the alternate universe, your teacher began to warn all of you to not fall in love with each other. The students, except for you, reacted with total contempt of possible romance whatsoever. Again, the teacher told us all that it could really happen. In an instant, everyone, but you, went crazy and started to run away from school, leaving you all alone without knowing it.

You were so calm that you didn’t realize that others were gone. It took you minutes until you found out that they were really gone. You were sad, but managed to hold up your restless tears. You were forsaken by even your own friends, and yet optimism was still burning like a torch in your heart. You knew you must not give up on them. You had to follow them.

When your feet stepped to the concrete pavement outside the campus, you saw a brand new motorbike. Even though you never rode on a motorbike before, you decided it to, despite the risks. In seconds, you were off to find them.

Following them though wasn’t always easy. There were series of obstacles along your way like harsh gales, hot and arid plains, city traffics, blizzards, and many more. They could have worn out your perseverance, but the same mutterings you heard earlier today was the reason you want to resume on your search. At times of hardships, the words cooed at your ears like a gentle breeze.

Few hours later, you began to see a beach. You could hear the merry sounds by the end of the beach, and you inferred that the voices might be belonged to your very friends. Ecstatic of this possibility, you ran as fast you could. But even before you ran a mile, there was a huge tree that fell in front of your melancholic eyes. You felt disappointed, and for a second, you thought you never get to meet your friends again. However, little did you know that there were five hollow-like caves bored onto the dead tree. Rejuvenated by the chance, you peeked through the first one. There were many people dancing happily without a single care of the desperate world. You did the same thing with the other holes, and they progressively shrank. So you went to through the first cavern. After going through it, you looked back, and all realms, except the beach, were vanished like vapor in the air. There was no going back after this.

You also witnessed something you never knew could be possible. All of your friends and classmates already had boyfriends or girlfriends to hang out with. They seemed to be more than just what shallow romances were, and they were still in high school. To make it worse, you didn’t have a boyfriend. You tried your best to grab your friends’ attention, but they wouldn’t budge in. In this moment, you thought that nobody would ever listen to your sentimental mumblings. You were tempted to cry, but the fear of embarrassment took the best of you. You then ran to a secluded part of the beach and isolated yourself from the others. You watched the festive party still going good from afar, and you quietly burst in tears as shooting stars landscaped the night canvas.
