Chapter Eleven

Sophia woke up, her limbs tangled with Gabriel’s, still together on the couch with the lion. It was a little chilly, although everywhere her body touched Gabriel’s was warm. Reluctantly, she got off the couch and quickly put her clothes back on before leaving her office. While she had plenty of things to take care of, there was one thing that took priority.

She found a blanket and then returned to the office and covered Gabriel up with it, wanting him to stay warm. Once sure he was comfortable, she walked out and closed the door behind her. Her plan for the morning was to find something for breakfast and to finish taking  care of business with the other packs regarding the lions.

That plan was almost immediately thrown off track when she heard the front door opening. Growling, she walked over to see who was there, although she had an idea of who it was.  She saw that she was partially correct – there were several more people than she had expected.

Lukas and Jason she had definitely expected, and she also wasn’t too surprised to see that Jason’s mate, Blake, was there as well. What she did find surprising was that Talon and Lukas’ mate, Emma, had also joined the group. She wondered if perhaps they were there for a reason other than what she suspected, but she knew that wasn’t likely.

“What the hell - ?” Talon started to speak loudly, but Lukas hit him in the arm, shutting him up.

“We’re thinking we should probably talk about this situation,” Jason said. “As your friends.”

                “What situation?” Sophia asked.

“We know what we saw last night,” Lukas said. “And we’re worried about you.”

“You don’t have to worry about me,” she grumbled. “Unless I don’t get my damn coffee.”

“I’ll make the coffee,” Blake said. “I’ll just meet you in Sophia’s office?”

“No,” Sophia said. “If we’re going to talk about anything, we’ll do it in the living room.”

“What’s wrong with your office?” Jason asked.

                “Nothing.”

                “Shouldn’t we go in there?”

                “No.”

                “Why not?”

“Because the lion’s sleeping in there,” Sophia said with a sigh, realizing that Jason wasn’t going to give up. And even if he did, she knew Lukas would never stop prying if he thought she was hiding something. “And I don’t want all of you shouting in there and waking him up.”

“Why’s he in there?” Lukas asked.

“He’s gotta sleep somewhere,” Sophia said with a shrug.

“I thought he was sleeping with you,” Lukas mumbled, but Sophia was close enough to hear that, and she growled at her cousin.

“Would you just drop it already?”

“Normally, we really wouldn’t care about your sex life,” Jason said.
