Leah felt a tickle on her cheek. She moved her head and batted it away without opening her eyes, not wanting to give up her peaceful slumber.
"Wifey..." A husky voice whispered. "Wake up..."
"Mmm..." She groaned in irritation. "Antok pa ako."
"Wifey, sisimba pa tayo."
"Anong oras na ba?"
"Seven."
Leah finally opened her eyes. "Seven? Ang aga aga pa eh!"
She turned to face Clark and stopped.
There on the other side of the bed, Clark was sitting with a bouquet of pink tulips in his hand and a tray of breakfast in front of him.
Leah sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Ano 'to?"
Clark handed her a card.
Her heart started to beat faster. "Hindi natin anniversary ah."
He grinned. "Just read it."
Leah pulled the card out of the envelope and on the front was a breathtaking sketch of herself.
"Clark, ikaw gumawa nito?" She asked. He always claimed to not be good at drawing people but now she could see that he was seriously downplaying his abilities.
He nodded. "Open it."
She did so and inside of the homemade card was a cartoon sketch of Leah with a big belly (it was currently still flat) and a little bubble that said "I love you Mommy."
Dear Mommy,
Baby might not be with us yet and right now he or she is as small as a grape inside of you but I still want to make you feel special on this day. Your very first Mother's Day.
I can't thank you enough, Leah. I grew up without a family and to have one with you now...it's a dream come true.
I know you're going to be an amazing mother, filling his/her life with laughter, warmth, devotion, and so much love. Our baby is so lucky to have you as his/her Mommy. And I'm lucky to have you as my wife.
I love you so much. Happy Mother's Day my love. Next year there will be three of us celebrating.
We love you,
Daddy & Baby
Tears dripped down Leah's cheeks as she read Clark's beautiful message. It wasn't long before she was full on sobbing and Clark wrapped her up in his arms as she cried into his chest.
"I'm assuming this crying is because you're happy." He kissed the top of her head.
When she gained control of herself, Leah pulled away and slapped his shoulder. "Kasi naman, buntis ako tapos magsusulat ka ng ganito. Alam mo naman na hindi ko ma-control ang hormones ko."
Clark kissed her. "Happy Mother's Day."
Leah laughed happily and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Daddy."
"I still can't believe we're going to be parents," he said, kissing her shoulder.
Leah buried her face in his neck and breathed him in. She couldn't believe it either. It had only been a week since they had the news confirmed with Leah's doctor and they weren't telling anyone yet. She could have stayed like that with Clark forever but her stomach started to rumble.
